L'economia, ce ne dimentichiamo tutti, è una scienza sociale. Nononstante usi un metodo massicciamente quantitativo e faccia ricorso a formalizzazioni matematiche, non è una scienza "dura", come la fisica. Non è cioè basata su principi verificabili con il metodo scentifico. La matematica, dopotutto, è un linguaggio e si può usare per descrivere anche la musica o la pittura, ma nessuno darebbe a queste due attività la valenza di scienze esatte. Bene, Paul Krugman lo ricorda a tutti e lo fa in termini non equivocabili durante la crisi che si sta mangiando gli Usa. E che si mangerà anche noi.
