Money quote: “In my case, I create content using the minimalistic writing app Bear. That’s where I take my notes, brainstorm, write my blog content. I edit my website using Squarespace on Safari, even if it is slightly limited. I edit my other sites directly on WordPress, and everything works fine. I edit my pictures in Lightroom and Photoshop. Photoshop isn’t as complete as on a Mac, but for light photo editing, it works well enough. I edit 4K videos in Lumafusion. It’s enough for short, not too ambitious, social media videos and stories, and it works remarkably smoothly. I can also manage my Google Drive as well as on a Mac, manage my files directly in the Files app, and even do backups and file management on external hard drives.
The only task that I needed a desktop for, was to do some editing on my Squarespace website, which I’m sure will be possible sooner than later after a few updates and patches”

Money quote: “"No one wants a digital Christmas.
"Squashing false expectations is one thing, but no one wants to dampen people's hopes."
He added: "Perhaps we should consider a Christmas 'circuit-breaker'. A 24-hour lifting of restrictions on gatherings and celebrations, a break in the war on Covid, just like the pause in the First World War on the Western Front in 1914, when the British and German troops laid down their guns and met in no man's land to celebrate Christmas."
He added: "Couldn't we allow for one day of normality in the midst of our relentless war against the virus?”

The Bishop of Paisley wants a 24-hour "circuit breaker" put in place, comparing it to the World War One ceasefire.
Money quote: “The recent 5 to 0 victory of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) pilot developed by Heron Systems over an Air Force F-16 human pilot does not have me scrambling to send out applications for a new job. However, I was impressed by the AlphaDogfight trials and recognize its value in determining where the military can capitalize on AI applications.
For most military aviators, it may be easy to scoff at the artificiality of the contest. I may have even mumbled, “Never would have happened to a Navy pilot…” Instead, I think it is important not to get wrapped too much around the axle about the rules of the contest and instead focus on a couple of details that really jumped out at me on the advantages an AI pilot would have over a human pilot. ”

Il problema di chiamarsi Osama
Money quote: “I was born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan, where Osama was — and still remains — a popular name.

Con il mio referral avete uno sconto sul periodo iniziale (and so do I). https://secure.backblaze.com/r/01ti3i

Money quote: “On Monday, the United States Space Force released a 41-page capstone doctrine that finally explains why it exists. The document, dubbed Spacepower, establishes 'spacepower' as a separate military might for which the newest branch of the military is responsible. The document lays out the principles and guidelines that will form the foundation of the Space Force as it continues to develop.”

The neural-mechanism behind super recognition is still largely unknown, but the skill seems to be genetic and possessed by only about one percent of the population.”

Money quote: "Court tennis was comically aristocratic. The courts were difficult and expensive to construct, the equipment has always been handmade and thus pricey, and, more to the point, the people who loved it wanted to keep it a game of leisure and affluence. Court tennis matches were social events, places to be seen, maybe to find a spouse for a wayward niece or nephew, or secure a business deal. The public—the cheering, drinking, boisterous public—was not a part of it."

Money quote: “Fast-forward a few years, and Discord is at the center of the gaming universe. It has more than 100 million monthly active users, in millions of communities for every game and player imaginable. Its largest servers have millions of members. Discord's slowly building a business around all that popularity, too, and is now undergoing a big pivot: It's pushing to turn the platform into a communication tool not just for gamers, but for everyone from study groups to sneakerheads to gardening enthusiasts. Five years in, Discord's just now realizing it may have stumbled into something like the future of the internet. Almost by accident.”
