Donald Trump viene criticato (molto giustamente a mio avviso) ma anche demonizzato. E questo è uno sbaglio. Va sconfitto e tolto di torno, ma va anche capito. Invece, prevale una lettura snob e ideologica: Trump è matto (in un certo senso è vero) pigro e incapace (non è vero: il fatto di essere dov'è lo dimostra), bugiardo patologico (detto per criticare un politico è quasi ridicolo) e sostazialmente tutto quello che fa è sbagliato. Quest'ultimo punto è vero e non vero, al tempo stesso. Mi spiego.
Trump non è un idiota. È probabilmente psicopatico affetto da un monumentale narcisismo ed è quasi privo di senso morale (le due ultime cose vanno spesso assieme) tuttavia è una persona che "funziona" molto bene. È inoltre incapace di essere "smontato" dagli altri per via del suo narcisismo: in un'altra epoca, tipo il medioevo europeo o giapponese, sarebbe stato un guerriero perfetto (con tutti gli aspetti reali anziché ideali di queste bestie sanguinarie). Ha un suo codice, che gli serve per controllare il mondo esterno e in parte sedurlo, ma in realtà non ha una sua vera agenda, se non quella di ottenere il potere. Per farlo, costruisce la sua agenda esterna in maniera tattica, appoggiandosi ai gruppi di interesse con meno scrupoli (cioè che hanno voglia di fare business con lui) quando vede una opportunità per se stesso.
La cosa che però viene dimenticata o non osservata, perché Trump la usa per mandare in cortocircuito i suoi avversari, è il suo metodo di negoziazione e risoluzione dei conflitti. Rompe lo schema precostituito, si allea con i nemici e facendo così mette in crisi gli alleati (che non sono amici, e a lui questo è chiarissimo). Inoltre, fa saltare le trattative negando i quadri di riferimento: è un bullo, brutale ma furbo, che colpisce per poi avere i vantaggi dell'accordo. È il suo comportamento tipico, che ripete sistematicamente e che ha messo al servizio di una ideologia populista in realtà aderente a interessi industriali e finanziari americani molto chiari. E lo fa anche in politica estera.
Lo storico accordo tra Israele e gli Emirati Arabi Uniti è farina del suo sacco, della sua capacità di negoziare in maniera fuori dagli schemi, dall'aver visto un suo tornaconto (le elezioni, l'appoggio di parte degli ebrei americani, ma anche degli arabi) negli interessi spesso innominabili di altri.

Premesso che mi piacciono gli aerei ma non quelli militari, mi ha tuttavia incuriosito la ora vecchia notizia della vittoria per 5 a 0 di un F/A-18 della marina americana piotato da una intelligenza artificiale contro un pilota vero, un top-gun. Il problema di una simulazione del genere e dei suoi risultati però non è facilmente comprensibile e sui giornali secondo me è stato abbondantemente travisato. Occorre a mio avviso andare a parlare con un esperto: questo articolo scritto con felice chiarezza da un comandante di squadrone dell’aviazione della Marina americana, che pilota F/A-18, su cosa voglia dire la vittoria di una AI su un pilota reale in un vero dogfight secondo me è una lettura necessaria per capirci veramente qualcosa.
