Money quote: "Advance NZ, a new party in the 2020 election that made its name by campaigning against Ardern's Covid-19 restrictions, vaccinations, the United Nations, and 5G technology, won just 0.9% of the vote, attracting 21,000 ballots from the 2.4 million New Zealanders who cast them." Why New Zealand rejected populist ideas other nations have embraced (a rejection that saved lives). Here's a hint: There are no Murdoch-owned media outlets in New Zealand.

If only UK journalists had that integrity we wouldn’t have a populist government that is in power simply due to unchallenged slogans, promises and lies.")

Money quote: “There has been a drastic increase in remote work since March, when the pandemic hit the U.S. Nearly 60% of employees are now working remotely full or part time, according to a recent Gallup poll. Nearly two-thirds of employees who have been working remotely would like to continue to do so, according to that same poll. That would seemingly give workers a lot more flexibility when it comes to where they call home.”

Ogni tanto qualcuno mi chiede: programmare è difficile? Questo articolo, Typing is Hard, che si occupa di una minuzia, risponde alla domanda molto bene secondo me.
Money quote: “Type checking is the process of taking a given program in some programming language and working out whether all variables and expressions have the correct types, i.e. strings are assigned to strings, arithmetic expressions involve only numbers, etc. Some languages also offer type inference, tasking the compiler with the task of figuring out correct types on its own. Depending on a language’s features the type checking and type inference problems range from trivial to undecidable.”

A toxic influencer is a person that covers a useful role in a community, but at the same time creates a toxic environment around them that can become bullying in some instances — yet they never over-step the line of proper abuse, so they can’t be easily managed.”

Money quote: “Online activism, coupled with in-person organizing, reached a zenith in June, as daily Black Lives Matter protests erupted across the country. Instagram, once an apolitical din, reflected that change. It no longer felt appropriate — even for celebrities and influencers, who tend to exist unfazed by current events — to skip over politics and resume regular programming. The escapist days of uninterrupted brunch photos and filtered selfies have been replaced by protest photos and black squares. For a brief moment, it seemed as though people, whether they have 150 followers or 150,000, were hyper-aware of what they should or should not post.”
