Money quote: "The risk to crypto posed by fast-developing quantum technology — which exploits the way the physics of matter works differently at atomic and subatomic levels — was once considered a distant possibility, with bitcoin widely seen as unhackable.
But digital assets firms are speeding up their preparations for a “post-quantum” age, as tech companies slash the timelines for developing practical quantum computers to as soon as 2030.
“The threat has moved from theoretical to credible,” said Ayo Akinyele, head of engineering at RippleX, the blockchain development arm of crypto group Ripple. The company is exploring post-quantum cryptography, with securing wallets as its first priority, and expects to transition its infrastructure to this within the next two years."

Money quote: "(I listened to most of the encyclical on a walk with our dog, my first time trying the ElevenReader iPhone app. It worked very well: I pasted in a URL to the document and it read it to me in a very high quality voice, highlighting each paragraph as it went.)"

Money quote: "There was once upon a time when friendship did not require elaborate planning. We spoke for hours without checking calendars. Entire evenings disappeared on hostel terraces and tea stalls and long walks taken for absolutely no reason. Friendship in youth thrived on excess time – loose, unstructured, and gloriously wasteful.
However, somewhere between “Let’s catch up soon” and “Sorry, life has been hectic”, adult friendship became one of the most emotionally significant and least discussed losses of modern life."

A few weeks ago, a friend called me at 01:40 AM. Not texted. Called. For a brief second, my body prepared itself for bad news. Adulthood has conditioned most of us to believe that late-night...

Money quote: "Google Docs already has two AI buttons built in—a chat side panel and a bottom bar. Does it need another window into Gemini?
Frank Tisellano, a Docs product manager, says yes, especially for people who think and speak faster than they type: “We’re trying to remove this bottleneck to prompting and getting your ideas out there.”"

Money quote: "Tech tourism aligns with China’s attempts to actively promote itself as a tech powerhouse.
In April 2025, American YouTuber iShowSpeed visited Shenzhen and rode a flying drone car. While the influencer’s team denied having been paid by the Chinese government, the video drew more than 600,000 views and was praised by Chinese state media for “casting light on real China.”
When German Chancellor Friedrich Merz visited Unitree Robotics in Hangzhou in February, videos of him watching humanoid robots perform kung fu moves went viral on Chinese social media. Leaders from Spain and Vietnam met Chinese tech executives and tried on AI glasses during their visits this year.
In a post on X on May 15, Lex Friedman, who hosts one of the world’s most popular tech podcasts in his own name, said he is visiting China to talk to “engineers at the heart of China’s AI revolution,” and also to do some hitchhiking. "
