#DV2021 FAQ: What's going on in #GohvBiden before Judge Mehta?
Answer:
(1) No motions pending.
(2) Status conference set for tomorrow, Wednesday, May 5, 10 am EST.
public access, call: +1 (404) 443-2170,
access code 321-8747
Some bad news for #DV2020 Gomez (and consolidated cases - Mohammed, Fonjong, Kennedy, and Aker):
In status conference in Goh this morning, Judge Mehta expressed need for hearing for Gomez/DV2020 and proposed to Goh attorney Charles Kuck that it be concurrent with #DV2021 hearing. Kuck did not argue it should come sooner.
This is indication that an order for DV2020 will probably not be forthcoming in May or June.
FAQ: Why does it sometimes take a long time to get an order from a judge?

Answer: Usually, a delay with an order has nothing to do with the parties or the plaintiffs’ claims. Rather, the delay is due to courts being buried in civil lawsuits. Also, federal judges also have to handle criminal cases, which take priority because the liberty of the accused is at stake. It’s important to remember judges typically preside over hundreds of cases at the same time.

Update in Gomez/consolidated #DV2020 cases and Goh/#DV2021:

Counsel for Goh plaintiffs have purportedly filed this notice with Judge Mehta, explaining " based upon the input from all of Plaintiff’s counsel in the Gomez matter, counsel for Goh believes it would not be appropriate to delay a hearing and/or a decision in Gomez case until the hearing currently proposed (and agreed to by both parties in Goh) on July 13, 2021 at 2:00 pm for the Goh case, and respectfully requests an earlier hearing in the Gomez matter, or a decision on the pleadings, at the court’s discretion and availability." This is good that all plaintiffs' counsel are again reunited in the goal of getting relief for #DV2020 plaintiffs and class members as quickly as possible.
