In 2014, a teenager named Joe Phillips-Garcia and his dog, Sako, were involved in a deadly car accident in the remote wilderness of British Columbia. Joe was the only survivor, left injured and stranded miles from help. Over the next 40 hours, Sako refused to leave Joe’s side. In freezing temperatures, he pressed close to keep him warm and even dragged him to a nearby creek so he could drink water. Sako also protected Joe from wild animals until rescuers finally arrived.

In 2012, Scottish saturation deep sea diver Chris Lemons was stranded 300 ft
underwater when his tether snapped, severing his lifeline for air, heat, and
communication.

His only hope was a tiny emergency tank with barely five minutes of oxygen.

For nearly 30 minutes, he lay unconscious on the seabed in freezing darkness,
without any real air supply.

When his colleagues finally reached him, they were certain he was dead. However,
Chris was somehow alive.

Despite the extreme cold, lack of oxygen, and expected brain damage, he made a
full recovery and returned to work weeks later.

Experts remain baffled, citing a mix of high‑oxygen preparation, the chilling
water lowering his metabolism...
