In 2005, Kaj Linna was wrongly imprisoned for murder for 13 years until a Swedish true crime podcast called Spår brought out clues that led to his exoneration. He was awarded $2.2 million in compensation (the largest such payment in Sweden's history). He now lives in the Canary Islands with his wife who was his Spanish language teacher in prison.

On September 7, 1987, Tom Young closed up his bookshop in the tiny village of Silver Plume, Colorado, and along with his dog, Gus, disappeared. Nine months later, a new resident of Silver Plume, Keith Reinhard, opened an antique shop at exactly the same location.
On August 7, 1988, Keith closed up his shop for the day. Less than two hours later, Keith Reinhard also disappeared.
Keith Reinhard and Tom Young both rented the same store. They both left town promising to return. Strangest of all, Keith was writing a book about Tom’s disappearance, when he too suddenly vanished.
On July 31, 1988, ten months after Tom Young disappeared, two hunters found the remains of Tom and his dog in the mountains near Silver Plume. Each had died from a bullet wound to the head.
No trace of Keith Reinhard has ever been found.

In 1997, 14-year-old Michael Carnal started a shooting rampage at Heath High School in Kentucky.
Upon arrival, he inserted earbuds and, with a pistol from his backpack, fired 8 rounds at a prayer group that was sitting outside of the school, killing 3 girls and injuring 5 others.
After he was finished, Carneal placed his pistol on the ground and surrendered to the school principal, Bill Bond. After dropping the gun, Carneal said to a surviving member of the prayer group: "Kill me, please. I can't believe I did that."
Michael was diagnosed with schizophrenia and sentenced to life imprisonment with the possibility of parole in 25 years.
In 2022 he was denied parole.

When domesticated dogs and cats are left alone with their deceased owners, it isn’t uncommon for the animal to begin eating them. Scientists hypothesize pets will lick and nip at their owner’s face for comfort out of the distress of seeing them unconscious or hurt. Eventually, they draw blood, and instinct takes over from there.

In 1994, near her South African home, Alison Botha faced a horrific abduction.
Frans du Toit and Theuns Kruger took her to a remote area where they subjected her to rape, disembowelment, and near-decapitating throat slashes. Despite enduring 30 stab wounds and 16 neck slashes, Botha miraculously remained conscious.
Left alone with sand and broken glass, she etched her attackers' names incase she died.
Recognizing a chance at survival, she spotted headlights in the distance. Holding her nearly decapitated head and keeping her intestines in place, she staggered towards the road.
Discovered by veterinary student Tiaan Eilerd, Botha was promptly aided by emergency services. One doctor noted the unprecedented severity of her injuries. Remarkably, she made a full recovery and has shared her story in over 35 countries.

On September 25, 2000, 19-year-old Kevin Hines attempted to end his own life by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge. Plunging over 220 feet at a speed of 75 miles per hour, he hit the water below, shattering three of his vertebrae and narrowly missing severing his spine by two millimeters. Despite the odds, he miraculously survived the impact.
Upon realizing he was still alive, an intense will to live surged within him. Yet, the weight of his clothes continuously pulled him beneath the surface of San Francisco Bay. For what seemed like an eternity, he struggled to resurface briefly, gasping for air, just enough to hold on to life.
Suddenly, he felt an unusual force from below lifting him above the water's surface, where he remained until the Coast Guard arrived. It was only later that he discovered the mysterious presence keeping him afloat: a sea lion had been supporting his body until the rescue boat arrived, as eyewitnesses had observed. @morbidknowledge

In 1991, Vasile Gorgos, a 63-year-old cattle seller from rural Romania, told his family that he was heading on a business trip.
He often went on business trips to various cities in Romania to sell his cattle, so this wasn’t unusual. He left and told his family he’d be back in a couple of days, but the reality was that this was the last time his family saw him for three decades.
The family reported his disappearance to Police, but nothing ever came out of it. His family eventually assumed he had fallen victim to foul play or suffered a tragic accident.
But 30 years later in August 2021, a car stopped in front of the Gorgos' family house and dropped off Vasile, who was now aged 93.
Vasile looked to be in a clean and tidy condition, meaning wherever he had been for the last 30 years he was well taken care of.
When asked by reporters and family where he was all these years, he replied candidly, ‘I was home.'”
