U.S. Markets Closing Updates | S&P 500 notches longest winning run since October

🇺🇸 Geopolitical Resilience | Stocks initially slipped on fears that the U.S.-Iran ceasefire was already failing after reported violations. However, markets rallied after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed plans for direct negotiations with Lebanon, signaling further de-escalation.
🇺🇸 Yields on U.S. Treasuries were largely unchanged or slightly lower at the close, reflecting a cautious balancing act between rebounding oil prices and hopes for continued de-escalation.
1. 2-Year Treasury Yield: Fell more than 1 basis point to 3.78%.
2. 10-Year Treasury Yield: Settled at 4.29%, down slightly from the previous day's [4.33%.
3. 30-Year Treasury Yield: Eased to 4.87%, continuing a trend toward moderation.
🇺🇸 Economic Headwinds
1. GDP Slump: Q4 2025 GDP growth was revised down to just 0.5%.
2. Labor Market: Initial jobless claims rose slightly to 219,000.
3. Sticky Inflation: February PCE inflation rose 0.4% monthly, matching expectations but staying well above the Fed's target.

Indian Indices Closing Updates | Sensex plunges 1.2%, Nifty 50 drops 0.93% as markets slide
▪️On April 9, 2026, the Indian equity market snapped a five-day winning streak as the Sensex fell 1.20% to 76,631.65 and Nifty 50 dropped 0.93% to 23,775.10, driven by profit booking & renewed geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
▪️Sectoral Performance saw significant divergence
1. Losing Sectors | Oil & Gas, PSU Banks, Infrastructure, Consumer Durables, and Private Banks shed between 0.4% & 2%, with major losers including HDFC Bank, L&T, Interglobe Aviation & Shriram Finance.
2. Gaining Sectors | Metals, Power, and Pharma added 0.5% to 1%, with Dr Reddy's Labs, Hindalco, & Bharat Electronics leading the gains.
3. Notable Movers | Ola Electric surged 20% on improved confidence regarding pricing & battery expansion, while Bosch Limited rose 1.88% following its board's approval to acquire a 100% stake in Bosch Chassis Systems India.
