On Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 09:35AM, the Cambodian Liaison Group (CLG) of the Kingdom of Cambodia has facilitated the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) to observe, verify and report on the border situation in the Boeung Trakuan Border Checkpoint of Banteay Meanchey Province following the implementation of the ceasefire.

It is also worth noting that this mission marks the handover of leadership from the outgoing Chair, Malaysia, to the Philippines. The Philippines will subsequently assume the rotating ASEAN Chairmanship and continue to lead the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) in the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The Royal Government and the Ministry of National Defence of Cambodia reaffirm our firm, sincere, and unwavering commitment to fully and faithfully respect and implement the Joint Statement of the Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) on December 27, 2025, the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand on October 26, 2025, and all other relevant agreements. This commitment is made with the aim of ensuring rapid recovery and restoring normalcy, and long-lasting peace and stability.

On March 29, 2026, at 13:30, at Techo International Airport, the Cambodia Liaison Group (CLG) of the Kingdom of Cambodia has warmly welcomed the arrival of two officers from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, COL. NGO XUAN TRUONG and LTC. BUI XUAN DUONG. These officers join the ASEAN Observers Team (AOT) in the Kingdom of Cambodia under the leadership of the Philippines, the ASEAN rotating chair, to observe, verify, and report on the border situation following the ceasefire, ensuring the effective implementation of all terms of the Joint Statement.

Cambodia has always continues to provide its full support to the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT), emphasizing the essential need to strengthen the AOT's role and mandate.
