The given maps compare the layout of an island prior to the introduction of tourist amenities with that of after construction.

Overall, the island has become literally unrecognizable. It is now a perfect tourist destination, with many facilities being added.

Before the invasion of tourism, the island was a deserted place, with several trees being scattered around. There was a beach in western tip of the island, which is still being taken advantage of.

At present, there is a pier in the southern part of the island so that ships can dock there. Reception is situated in the central area of the island, and to the north of it, a brand new restaurant could be spotted. To provide visitors with shelter many cabins have been built around the island. Footpath runs along cabins and vehicles track stretches from pier towards restaurant so that these facilities could be accessed through transportation.
Task: Some experts believe that it is better for children to begin learning a foreign language at primary school rather than secondary school.

Do the advantages of this outweigh the disadvantages?

It is sometimes thought that school children should be taught a foreign language when they are at elementary school instead of high school. Benefits of starting acquiring another language at such a young age, in my opinion, do not make up for its drawbacks.

There are various advantages to beginning to master a foreign language when students are at primary school. Firstly, at this age children's minds could be compared to sponges, meaning that they can learn complex grammar rules and vocabulary of a certain language without much effort. Even though some of them may struggle, due to the fact that elementary school is not that demanding for students, they can keep up with their language acquisition after school. Moreover, students can reap the rewards of this very policy in their time at secondary school. It is common knowledge that learning a second language boosts memory and improves the connections between neurons as a result of which students cope with more complex subjects more easily.

The negatives should not be overlooked, though. To begin, primary school children are yet to fully reach a proficiency in their mother tongue; this, in turn, interferes with the forein language learning. Furthermore, most teachers at elementary school are generalists; they teach children a variety of subjects ranging from maths to literature. Therefore, majority of them just lack the necessary qualifications to teach them a foreign language such as English or French. Should we implement such a scheme with current workforce, this would do more harm than good.

In conclusion, while the introduction of language courses to primary school can, without a doubt, bring several advantages, I still think that adverse impacts it has on whole education system are unbearable.

The given is a bar chart illustrating the energy consumption of the UK and USA in two separate years.

Overall, energy consumption from coal decreased significantly in the UK while that of from gas increased dramatically. As for the USA, the same had occurred over the period.

The figure for UK energy extracted from coal halved  from initial 30%. Apart from this, the feature for nuclear power had also decreased from 15% to 7% in 2000 and 2006, respectively.  That of gas, however, doubled until 40% in 2006. Oil and other renewables data maintained the same level.

The American figure for energy consumption derived from coal had decreased from 35% to 25% at the end. The data of gas saw a significant growth of around 10%. Energy consumption from other sources showed no change in a 6-year-period.
People, youngsters in particular, prefer to live alone or with their friends to with their family members. Although I acknowledge this gives a sense of independence, I totally disagree with this as it may disrupt relationships between siblings and parents.

The reason why people are willing to live alone is to be as much independent as possible. Not only does it help the youth to become self-sufficient later in life, but independence is a core skill to becoming confident. In addition to that, team-working skills can be enhanced, if one lives with friends. In this way, youngsters are supposed to interact with friends and take part in decision-making processes all the time. This may help them to be a successful applicant for a job further in their life.

Despite these benefits, I personally believe young generation should live with parents until they reach an adulthood. Firstly, they will be able to experience ups and downs of the life while living with parents, since every household tends to differ financially. This would not be the case with friends due to them being rich enough to purchase whatever they desire. Furthermore, unlike friends, parents will support their children at all times. In other words, friends seem to betray each other, which makes people as if they were left alone. However, parents will not do so to their offspring under any circumstances.

In conclusion, while I concede that friends are somewhat beneficial to feel independence to a certain degree, it would be better for the youth to live with parents owing to the benefits mentioned above, in my view.

The given bar chart compares the proportions of households which rented and owned accommodation over the course of 93 years, starting from 1918.

It is clear that the majority in England and Wales rented a shelter in the first half of the span. This, however, changed with a considerable portion of the English and Welsh owning a home.

In 1918, 78% of households did not own a house; they lived in rented accommodation. This number experienced a dip, while the proportion of households living in their own property started to rise, reaching 50% in 1971.

These two households followed an opposite trend: the proportion of families renting a home continued to fall(roughly 31% in 2001), whereas the figure for those owning a house witnessed a significant growth to about 65% in 2011. Although 2011 saw an increase in the proportion of households in rented accommodation, the number still was under 40%
Task: Some people believe that nowadays we have too many choices.

To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

It is sometimes thought that people are granted with an excessive number of choices in today's world. While I acknowledge that we are offered a wide range of options in many fields, there are still some cases where people do not have many alternatives.

It cannot be denied that people now enjoy the variety of products and services available to them. Industrialisation and advances in technology have lead to the creation of different goods and services. There are too many on offer that consumers all too often struggle with choosing one. For instance, how many times you just could not decide as to which channel to watch as we have a plenty of them out there. This kind of scenarios can be witnessed in many spheres, ranging from education, medicine, food to entertainment.

I, nevertheless, think that we still do not get to choose out of many variations in some fields. In my country, for example, most people purchase a car under the brand named GM. It is not because GM produces high quality or affordable vehicles, but people cannot buy alternatives as GM has established its monopoly in Uzbekistan. In addition, we cannot claim that we have a surplus of options when it comes to treatment of certain illnesses. A point in case would be Covid-19, whose cure was believed to be a vaccine. At that time health organizations only offered one type of vaccine, and it did not guarantee anything. Out of desperation, many people took the vaccine never minding whether or not it had any side effects.

In conclusion, while I agree that in many aspects of life options available at our disposal are in excessive number, I do not think we have reached this in every field.
