MLDA@EEE Learnova Workshop 1: Intro to Machine Learning
Two hours, and you go home having trained a working model. And knowing exactly how it works.
Got no experience? Don't worry! We build up to the coding part together, step by step.
What you'll actually get:
β’ A straight answer to what ML is, and where AI & deep learning sit around it
β’ A model you trained and tested yourself
β’ The same steps real ML work follows: load the data, split it, train, then check how wrong you were
The whole session is built around one task. You get the problem first, then pick up each concept when you need it to move forward. What the problem is, you'll find out on the night. π
π Thu, 10 Sep 2026
π 7:00 - 9:00 PM
π Venue: Seminar Room 1, Floor 1, Wee Cho Yaw Plaza (ABS-01-SR1)
Limited seats. Sign up now: [Link]

We will be equipping you with tools to explore data.
What youβll gain from the workshop:
β’ An understanding of what EDA is and why it matters
β’ Hands-on practice with Pandas to clean, filter and slice data
β’ Visualise data using Seaborn and Plotly
β’ A guided mini-challenge where youβll clean a dataset, spot outliers, calculate correlations and create visualisations
This session will get you to practice on a dataset, and we will guide you troubleshoot. Youβll explore, find patterns, and learn how those insights can influence what is next in machine learning workflow.
You don't have to know everything. Just show up! π
