❗️Today, we’ll talk about two mistakes in the episode "The Illustrhater".

1. Ryuko’s power, associated with water, was called "Water Dragon" (see "Ikari Gozen"), but in episode 6x02, it was suddenly referred to as "Rain Dragon" It seems the scriptwriters either forgot or didn’t know the canon.

2. Caroline talks about her akumatization, even though, she only supposed to be akumatized in the next episode (6x03, according to the production code). Knowing the events of episode 6x03, we can confidently say that, at that point, the character had only been akumatized once, not 72 times like Mr. Ramier.

In fact, these small mistakes, along with the inconsistencies in Marinette/Ladybug’s behavior in seasons 5 and 6, can be partially explained.
As we know, several new writers joined the team for season 6, alongside T. Astruc and S. Thibodeau. Some of these new writers came from "Ghostforce", while others were hired externally. It seems they only got a surface-level understanding of Miraculous Ladybug before diving into their work. Most likely, T. Astruc provided the overall plot outline, while the full scripts were developed without his direct involvement — which could explain the noticeable drop in script quality.

Regardless of one’s opinion about T. Astruc and his plot decisions, it’s hard to believe that he suddenly started writing at the level of an untalented intern or a weak AI. (And Astruc himself mentioned this collaborative writing process in one of his interviews.) The opening credits for season 6 list Sébastien Thibodeau as the head writer, while T. Astruc, M. Duval, F. Lenoir, and S. Thibodeau are credited for the story arcs.

Moreover, when the season 6 scripts were being written, season 5 hadn’t finished airing yet. As a result, the new writers didn’t get to see how Marinette behaved at the end of season 5 or in the London special.

Let’s not forget that season 1 also had multiple writers, and later, T. Astruc and S. Thibodeau had to rewrite and adjust the scripts to reduce the inconsistencies.
