“Picasso for Asia” Expo held in Hong Kong’s M+ Museum

Starting on 15th March, art lovers will be able to revel in the surrealist masterpieces of world-renowned painter Pablo Picasso. Supported by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, the special exhibition, which aims to showcase an intercultural dialogue between Picasso and Asian artists who have echoed his visual language, features more than 60 works by the Spaniard and around 130 by Asian artists.

Canberra’s Annual Balloon Spectacular Attract Thousand Visitors

Thousands of people have gathered in Canberra to celebrate the start of the national capital’s annual balloon spectacular. Included in this year’s event will be two special shaped balloons, Simba the Lion and Axel the Tiger. The Canberra Balloon Spectacular is much loved by locals and interstate visitors. It’s the perfect experience for families to enjoy. The balloon spectacular will continue, weather willing each morning until 23th March.

Flower show at the Victoria Park in Hong Kong

The 10-day Hong Kong Flower Show opened on 14th March at Victoria Park. Featuring an exuberant array of blooms from around the world, the floral exhibition has drawn not just locals but also tourists. This year’s floral display is themed “Ablaze with Glory”, featuring 238 organizations which include 81 exhibitors from 11 other countries. The flower show runs until 23rd March. Free admission for senior citizens and the disabled from Monday through Friday.

Return of ancient artifacts to Turkiye

The head of a Statue of Roman Emperor Septimius Severus, dating back to the 3rd century AD, smuggled from Turkiye have been returned from Denmark’s Glyptotek Museum. Speaking at a handover ceremony at the Antalya Archaeology Museum, the Culture and Tourism Minister said the artifacts originated from the ancient city of Boubon in Burdur, a city in southwestern Turkiye, as well as from Duver village. Along with Severus’ head, 48 terracotta architectural plaques and statue fragments were also returned to Turkiye.

World Theatre Day acts as a wake-up-call to recognize the founding values of theatre with respect to the global community, emphasizing the peaceful and universal value of arts and its potential for economic growth.
World Theatre Day was initiated in 1962 by the International Theatre Institute (ITI). It is celebrated annually on 27 March by ITI Centres and the international theatre community. Various national and international theatre events are organized to mark this occasion.

Tourists join Holi Festival in Nepal

Nepal witnessed a vibrant and joyous celebration of Holi as thousands of people across the country participated in the festival, smearing colorful powders and splashing water at one another. Holi is a two-day festival in Nepal. The first day is marked by lighting bonfires to symbolize the victory of good over evil. The second day, Dhuleti or Holi, is when people throw colors, dance, and celebrate together. The festival saw enthusiastic participation from both locals and foreign tourists.

Chinese animated powerhouse “Ne Zha 2” has surpassed Disney’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” to secure its spot as the fifth highest-grossing film of all time globally. According to data from ticketing platform Maoyan, the film’s global earnings, including presales, have exceeded about 2.09 billion U.S. dollars as of Saturday. The milestone was reached just 45 days after the film’s release during the Chinese New Year on 29th January.

To conduct rescue operations in Myanmar due to devastating 7.7- magnitude earthquake, a plane carrying relief items and medical supplies along with the 37 rescue personals from China arrived at Yangon International Airport on March 29th. They were welcomed at the airport by Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Region Security and Border Affairs Minister, Mayor, First Secretary from Embassy of China in Myanmar Mr. Zhu Feng and many other concerned officials. 37 rescue personnel are from Yunnan Province and they proceeded to Nay Pyi Taw to assist the rescue operations promptly in quake hit areas, upholding the existing China-Myanmar Pauk Paw Relations.

The first consignment of relief material, provided by the Government of India, arrived in Yangon on Saturday. A search and rescue team and medical team was also sent to provide assistance in rescue operation at quake hit areas. The first tranche of 15 tonnes of relief material, include tents, blankets, sleeping bags, food packets, hygiene kits, generators, and essential medicines. These relief items were formally handed over to Chief Minister of Yangon U Soe Thein by Ambassador Abhay Thakur at Yangon International Airport

In order to provide assistance in relief measures at the quake hit areas, a 120-member rescue team from Russia left from Moscow on Saturday. They will assist in the rescue operation at the areas affected by the severe earthquake. A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar at 12:51 PM local time on March 28, with its epicenter located about 20 kilometers northeast of Mandalay. It was described as a shallow earthquake of 10 kilometers deep and it caused quite substantial damage, followed by small aftershocks. The strong tremor led to the collapse of infrastructure, including roads, bridges, hotels and public residential buildings.
