World Bamboo Day is observed to inspire students, innovators, and designers to discover modern, creative, and sustainable ways to utilize bamboo.

Bamboo is among the world’s fastest-growing plants, capable of reaching maturity in just a few years.
Bamboo absorbs more carbon dioxide and releases more oxygen compared to many other plants, supporting efforts to reduce greenhouse gases.
Bamboo regrows after harvesting without replanting, reducing the risk of deforestation and helping restore degraded land.

Dakar’s Vanishing Bubble Homes

In Dakar, Senegal, small mushroom-shaped
“bubble homes” rise quietly among modern buildings.
Built in the 1950s to alleviate the post-WWII housing crunch,
these igloo-like houses are rare today,
cherished by residents who hope to preserve them.
Designed by Wallace Neff, the concrete domes were quick,
economical, and sturdy, yet didn’t suit traditional family life,
prompting later expansions.

Atula Dipatti Maha Muni Thetkya Koe Htat Gyi Pagoda

The Koe Htat Gyi Buddha Statue has a height of 72 feet from the throne to the top of the head, aligning with the Navamsa literally meaning the “Ninth Division”. Unlike other statues, the fingers on the right hand of it are not uniformly extended. With the “Bhumisparsha Mudra (ဘူမိဖဿ မုဒြာ)”, the wish-granting Buddha Statue has a unique characteristic of holding a piece of robe between the thumb and the index finger. With a total of 18 letters perfectly aligning with the Navamsa, the Buddha Image’s full title is – Atula Dipatti Maha Muni Thetkya Koe Htat Gyi Pagoda.

Technology giant Apple was accused
by authors in a lawsuit of illegally using
their copyrighted books to help train
its artificial intelligence systems.
It’s part of an expanding legal fight over protections
for intellectual property in the AI era.
The proposed class action, filed in the federal court
in Northern California, said Apple copied protected works
without consent and without credit or compensation.

3,000-Metre Dome Offers Views of Europe’s Clearest Skies

Perched at 3,000 metres on an isolated mountain,
an astronomical dome offers travelers the chance
to gaze at stars, galaxies and planets through
a telescope pointed towards one of Europe’s clearest skies.
After several hours of walking and nearly 1,000 metres of ascent,
visitors reach one of the highest observatories on the continent.
At 3:20 am, deep-sky objects beyond
the solar system come into view. Galaxies, nebulae,
and star clusters, usually invisible to the naked eye,
unfold in silent brilliance.

Super Mario Superfan Kikai’s 20,000-Piece Tribute

As Super Mario marks 40 years,
Japanese mega-fan Kikai stands out
with a collection of more than 20,000 items dedicated
to the iconic plumber.
Born in 1985, the same year Super Mario Bros. was released,
he grew up playing the game on his father’s Famicom and
never stopped admiring the character.
What began as simple love for Mario gradually turned
into a record-breaking collection, earning him a place
in the Guinness World Records Gamers Edition 2011.
For Kikai, it was never about numbers or rarity,

$300 Bil Agreement Between OpenAI & Oracle

OpenAI and Oracle have reportedly signed
a massive agreement to purchase $300 billion worth of
computing power over the next five years.
That’s according to the Wall Street Journal,
which cites this as a pivotal move
in the evolving AI infrastructure race.
The deal is set to take effect in 2027 and builds
on the partnership both companies announced back in July.
At that time, they unveiled plans
to construct data centers totaling 4.5 gigawatts of
power under the Stargate initiative.
However, financial details remained unclear until now.

The World's Largest Pot of Jollof Rice

With more than five tons of rice, tomato concentrate, cooking oil and onions, Nigerian chef Hilda Baci attempted to conjure up the biggest rice jollof ever made and has broken the world record. It is the popular West African dish features rice simmered in a tomato sauce, accompanied by meat or fish. The Chef used 4,000 kg of basmati rice, 500 cartons of tomato concentrate, 750 kilos of oil and 600 kilos of onions to create this mammoth dish. Guinness World Records confirmed the achievement for the largest jollof rice serving by chef Hilda Baci who also held the world record for the longest cooking marathon in 2023.
