National Tulip Day in Amsterdam

Several hundred people gathered on Amsterdam's Museumplein for National Tulip Day. Every year in January,
Amsterdam officially kicked off the tulip season during National Tulip Day. In 2025, National Tulip Day returns to the city for the 12th edition.
This year’s National Tulip Day dedicated to celebrating Amsterdam’s 750th anniversary. Dutch tulip growers invite everyone
to pick a bunch of tulips for free in a specially created picking garden where 200,000 tulips have been created on Museumplein in Amsterdam.

World Leprosy Eradication Day

It is observed annually to promote worldwide unity in the battle against leprosy.
Leprosy is a disease spread by a type of bacteria and it is curable with a combination of antibiotics known as Multi Drug Therapy (MDT).
It is a neglected tropical disease (NTD) which still occurs in more than 120 countries, with more than 200 000 new cases reported every year.
If leprosy is not treated, it can lead to serious complications. We should therefore end it with the target of zero transmission by 2035.

People have soaked in frigid water in Ishikawa Prefecture to pray for a healthy year and reconstruction of areas hit by last year’s powerful earthquake and
torrential rain on the Noto Peninsula. The annual purification ritual took place at a shrine in Hakusan City, central Japan, on 20th January,
the coldest day of the year according to the traditional Japanese calendar.

China's Yingge Dance, Half Martial Arts, Half Opera Performance

Dozens of costumed performers with elaborately painted faces dance and beat wooden sticks to the rhythm of gongs and
drums in traditional performances of Yingge dance in the southern Chinese city of Shantou. Hundreds of spectators watched the displays in temples and
on the streets, some travelling to the city specially to experience the Lunar New Year atmosphere.
The half martial arts half opera performance, inspired by legendary stories, is often performed for festival celebrations to bring good luck.
