A traditional display of handcrafted hanging ornaments and “Hinamatsuri” dolls is attracting visitors to in Higashi Izu Town of Shizuoka Prefecture, central Japan. About 18,000 ornaments are hanged on strings at the Hina-no-Yakata main venue. They include figures modeled after birds, animals and the area’s trademark fish, golden-eyed snapper. Moreover, about 150 Hina dolls are featured on a tiered stage. Hinamatsuri is an annual event to wish for health and happiness of young girls.
