Robin Williams met Koko the gorilla in 2001 while she was grieving the loss of her longtime companion, Michael.

She had not smiled in over six months, but Williams made her smile again.

When the actor died in 2014, Koko was told, “We have lost a dear friend, Robin Williams.”

She later signed “cry lip” and "became very gloomy, bowing her head and shivering her lips."

I love nature docs & i recently came across one that hit me super hard. turns out the labords chameleon’s life cycle is extremely short. they live only 4-5 months & immediately die after laying & burying their eggs (which is their only purpose)z

in the final moments their nervous system begins to fail as their brain loses control of skin cells, so random nerve firings cause the skin to randomly change colors which causes a ridiculous art as they slowly die. it’s like sort of a visualization of the brain’s final flickerings.

The man doesn’t know that there is a snake underneath. The woman doesn’t know that there is a stone crushing the man. The woman thinks: “I am going to fall! And I can’t climb because the snake is going to bite me! Why can’t the man use a little more strength and pull me up!” The man thinks: “I am in so much pain! Yet I’m still pulling you as much as I can! Why don’t you try and climb a little harder!?”

The moral is— you can’t see the pressure the other person is under, and the other person can’t see the pain you’re in. This is life, whether it’s with work, family, feelings or friends, we should try to understand each other. Learn to think differently, perhaps more clearly and communicate better. A little thought and patience goes a long way.

Check out this ginormous root system on the bottom of a fallen tree on the mountain.. It's quite amazing when you think of the power trees have to change the terrain and the ecosystem for the better over the millennia

The myriad and thousands of kilometers of tree roots digging through the soil and leeching at the minerals, and while not the first organism to start the process, basically turning ROCK into LIVING SOIL

To take it further, if it weren't for the fungi and mycelium which is ever present in nature, forest debris and dead plants would not be recycled properly and the ecosystem wouldn't be able to continue!

An ecosystem practices the ultimate form of alchemy - transforming inanimate matter into living material, and the fungi transform death and decay back into vibrant life once again - this is one of the reasons why nature, and fungi especially are a powerful ally on our journey of discovering the secrets of consciousness and the universe
