Helvegen is a Norse traditional song that speaks about a journey on a path called the Helvegen (the road to Hel), the realm of the dead in Norse mythology. The song speaks of one's journey to death and the experiences that come along with it. It paints a picture of a protagonist looking for solace in song, and looking to Odin (Valfader) for guidance, as he gives the individual the strength to carry on when the path is cold and hard. Ultimately, it speaks of a sense of acceptance of death, as the singer puts their faith in Odin, believing that he will protect and guide them on their journey through Helvegen. The song ends with the affirmation that no matter what happens, at least one thing will remain: "Dรณmr um daudan hvern", or โThe judgement of every death".
