Can you guess where you are?
it has been a while since I coded with golang and I didn't want to feel like an impostor at the GopherCon Ethiopia that's to be held this upcoming saturday afternoon. [details here] so I felt like I needed a simple side project involving golang.
well also I love travelling. so I recreated GeoGuessr, the Ethiopia version. if you have never played GeoGuessr before, it is a simple online game where you are shown a random street image and you guess the place.
the problem I encountered when limiting it to Ethiopia is we don't have that many street images. I have tried to add as many places as possible. some of them are even outdated by five or more years. I will be adding more as I find them. it's open source, so you can add too.
multiplayer is also supported. you can play with your friend who always brags he/she never misses any place in Ethiopia.
do check it and leave your comments. I would appreciate it if you leave me stars on github too :)

Help😁
I’m working on a pretty interesting product, but I ran into an issue extracting user profiles from telegram and displaying them in the app. tried a lot of things, and still not working.
If u’ve built telegram mini apps before and know ur way around this stuff, I could really use some help
feel free to DM me. @Voyager247

From what I’ve seen and learned (still figuring things out myself)... consistency on one skill even in small ways takes you further than doing a bit of everything without depth.
It’s easy to look busy, harder to build real mastery. I’d rather grow slowly in something meaningful than be everywhere and nowhere at once.
Still exploring my path, but one thing feels true: keep showing up, keep working smart and let the progress speak over time.

Being a CS or SE student at home is crazy 😭
TV remote stops working?
“Call her.”
Phone freezes?
“Give it to her, she studies computers.”
WiFi acting up?
Now I’m the whole IT department 💀
Like pls… I write hello world, not fix microwaves 😭
And my uncle really looked at me and said:
“So when will you start hacking government systems?”
Sir… I just spent 2 hours fixing one tiny error a missing semicolon or conflicts🤧
At this point they think I can
fix phones
repair TVs
boost network
and hack the country database 🕵🏽♀️

Was browsing for online DSA courses and found these:
1. GeeksforGeeks – DSA with Python
2. Udemy – Data Structures & Algorithms in Python
3. LogicMojo (Premium DSA Program)
If anyone here has taken any of these, I’d really appreciate honest feedback ;)
If you know better alternatives (paid or free), drop them below 👇

Found something interesting: Nexus Tutorial
It’s more focused on actually building skills rather than just watching lessons, they guide students through real projects and support them along the way.
What they provide:
• Online tutoring
• 1-on-1 mentorship
• Career support
If you’ve been looking for something a bit more guided than learning alone, you might want to check it out 👉 NEXUS

🚀 We’re forming a DSA Learning community
(inspired by Blue Nile DSA community)
Staying consistent alone is hard, so we’re building a peer-driven community where small teams push each other to grow.
This isn’t a course or a place where someone teaches you everything.
Instead, you’ll be part of a team of 7, where you:
👨💻 Solve problems together daily
💬 Discuss approaches and learn from each other
🎤 Do weekly rotating presentations (1 person per day)
📈 Stay accountable and consistent
We’ll mainly use Python, working toward:
💼 Technical interviews
🏆 Competitive programming
🌟 Opportunities like A2SV
📅 Starts this summer
If you’re ready to stay consistent and improve with others, this is for you.
📝 Apply here: Registration Link
⚠️ Spots are limited since teams are small, apply early to secure your place 🔥

When working on your product/project, what do you focus on more?
making the UI clean and polished first or focusing on the logic and what the project actually does..then fixing the UI later?
Which approach works better for you?

It’s tempting to chase perfection from the start.
To overthink every detail before anything even exists.
But progress doesn’t work like that.
Start messy.
Build something that just works.
Then improve it.
Refactor it. Polish it.
Speed and perfection come later.
Because you can’t improve what you haven’t built.
Start first. Fix later 🚀

⚡️ Quick one, but it matters.
An Ethiopian dev just built something that’s getting global attention: an AI tutor that works *offline* for students.
Right now, it’s in a global competition and every single like counts.

Sometimes supporting isn’t about big things, it’s just showing up when it counts.
