Bitcoin Whitepaper: Part 9️⃣

In Bitcoin, handling small transactions individually would be impractical. To simplify this, Bitcoin transactions use Unspent Transaction Outputs (UTXOs) as inputs and outputs. When a transaction is confirmed, new UTXOs are created, allowing users to combine multiple inputs and reduce the need for small transactions. This design mitigates fan-out complexity and enables efficient transaction processing without requiring a complete history of individual transactions.

Unlike traditional banking, Bitcoin's public transaction ledger requires a unique approach to maintain privacy. To address this, public key anonymization is used, allowing transactions to be visible without linking them to specific individuals.
This design mirrors the transparency of stock exchanges, where trade details are public but parties remain undisclosed. Additionally, using a new key pair for each transaction further enhances privacy by preventing the linking of transactions to a single owner. However, multi-input transactions may still reveal common ownership.
