No Surprises
Juliana Chahayed
A heart that's full up like a landfill
A job that slowly kills you
Bruises that won't heal
You look so tired, unhappy
Bring down the government
They don't, they don't speak for us
I'll take a quiet life
A handshake of carbon monoxide
No alarms and no surprises
No alarms and no surprises
This is my final fit
My final bellyache
With no alarms and no surprises
No alarms and no surprises
No alarms and no surprises, please

I didn't turn on the TV. I noticed long ago that if you feel bad, this scoundrel makes it even worse. One stupid face after another, and there is no end to it. An endless series of idiots, including famous ones.

Some people read to think, there are very few of them. Others read to write, there are many of those. And still others read to speak, and there is a huge majority of them.
Most people start screaming about injustice only when it concerns them personally.
So if this does end up being my last letter, please believe that things are good with me, and even when they’re not, they will be soon enough. And I will believe the same about you.
