How to cope with despair?

1. Give yourself permission to rest! Sometimes a 12-hour sleep or a quiet getaway can dissolve problems like “tyrannical boss” or “everything is ruined…” into nothingness.

2. Keep emotions and actions separate! As long as you’re caught in the loop of thinking “it’s all over,” you’ll stay stuck in that hole.

3. Asking for help is not weakness. Even strong people do it—but they don’t shift responsibility onto others. They clearly state what they need.

4. Learn to shape your own reality. Grab a piece of paper and map out a step-by-step action plan—where you’ll look for work, how you’ll cover expenses, etc.—then stick to it.

5. Your brain needs positive reinforcement. Move through tough situations not with giant leaps, but with small, almost guaranteed wins. This builds momentum and keeps your path clear.
