I was a huge fan back in the days and attended several concerts in the 80's en 90's. During the Zoo TV tour (following the Achtung Baby album) me and my friends managed to get a place right before the stage. When they played Love is blindness, Bono came over to our place and invites the girl next to me on stage and started dancing with her in a kind of sensual way. Moving and crawling around her, that kind of stuff. She goes along with it and they dance great together, she turns out to be a natural dancer. At the end of the song he gives her a longstanding kiss on the mouth. And she returns to her place, totally flabbergasted about what just happened. She just kept staring for a while so my friend asked her if she was okay. She said she was okay but confused. It turned out to be her first kiss and that she was only 13 years old.
The lyrics of that particular song seem also very symbolic:

After that came the Zooropa album release and following tour. The background 'musical landscape' of the album consists of fractions of advertisement from all over the world put together en overlayerd to create that sound. And, obviously, a specific energy surrounding the whole thing.
Half way the show Bono picked up a telephone and started a live call. I remember him calling the white house and asked if he could order a pizza. This was in the first half of the 90's and I don't know if it was code back then but trying to order pizza in the presidents office didn't make any sense in my experience. Since U2 is all about 'human rights' and supporting Amnesty International, I thought it made more sense to talk about something similair to that then try to order food.
About Amnesty, they were always present back then, next to the U2 merchandise. And every concert they got a big shoutout from Bono. So we totally fell for it and ending up buying the candle-with-barbwire-bags to match with the tourshirts and our armyboots. 🤦🏼‍♀ I don't know when U2 and Amnesty came together, as I am aware from the mid 80's. I 'left' U2 after the Pop album. That album was not my kind of tea and by that time I was also tired of 'saint' Bono and all his self proclaimed alter ego's. I guess I grew up 😄
