SPYGATE: Seattle cops were being spied on, having AI analyze their body cam footage to find language, tone, etc., and then rated -- without their knowledge. The trust that was broken cannot be overstated.

The Seattle Police Department (SPD) was using artificial intelligence software to “spy” on its officers and members of the public. When the union found out, its president said the department stopped using the software.

Truleo provides the software. It analyzes body cam footage to see if it can identify, in this case, problematic policing by analyzing, in part, words and tone. The department, according to the Seattle Police Officer’s Guild, was proactively reviewing body cam footage instead of using it to respond to specific complaints. But SPOG President Mike Solan says officers were never informed.

HALF OF STATES IN U.S. SUE BIDEN OVER NEW RULE TARGETING FARMERS AND LANDOWNERS
The lawsuit was filed in a federal court on Thursday. West Virginia, Georgia, Iowa, and North Dakota are leading a group of 24 states in the lawsuit against the EPA and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The lawsuit claims that the recently introduced Waters of the United States (WOTUS) regulation, which was revealed in late December, undermines the states’ jurisdiction over water bodies and the surrounding land.

In the rule, EPA asserts federal jurisdiction over land and water that has no connection to navigable waters. This goes beyond what the statute provides in the Constitution.”

They claim that it could cause confusion and impose regulatory burdens, resulting in Americans being fined or even facing imprisonment for making changes to their own property.
