Position Objective:
The Systems Engineer will be responsible for handling the everyday operations of computing resources , and affiliated entities to include designing, organizing, and configuring servers, networking equipment and storage. This position will ensure that all systems and backups are running properly as well as supporting and assisting with other ongoing Enterprise Solutions Group IT Projects.

Role & Responsibilities:
• • Datacenter equipment installation, design, maintenance, and monitoring in a virtual environment.
• • Backup, testing, documentation, and security compliance of datacenter systems and cloud environments.
• • Ensure up-time, data-availability, and performance of the S3 platform 24/7/365.
• • Establish, maintain, and evolve concepts in CI/CD pipelines for existing and new services.
• • Respond quickly to potential threats that may be detected by threat monitoring systems.
• • Analyze monitoring systems reports to identify trends that might indicate a future risk.
• • Ensure stable operation of all business-critical applications by maintaining infrastructure and software integrity using industry best practices.
• • Research, learn, and implement new or unfamiliar solutions in a growing environment.
• • Formally handle projects from beginning to end, ensuring deliverables meet requirements.
• • Assist the Service Desk and engineering staff in providing technical and desktop support for all users in times of high volume or in the event of issue escalation.
• • Participate in On-Call rotation for after-hours/weekend support as required.


Qualifications, Education & Special Requirements:
• • BS degree in a computer discipline or relevant field preferred.
• • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience working with information technology systems, AWS and/or Azure, and virtual infrastructure is desired.
• • Experience with the following is required: - Virtual Machine (VM) technology including VMWare ESXI or KVM
• - Data integrity strategies (RAID, Snapshots, etc.)
• - Networking principles, such as subnetting, ACLs and site-to-site communication

• • Experience with the following is preferable:
• - OpenStack experience
• - AWS and/or Azure Engineering Experience or Certification
• - Linux operating systems (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)
• - Edge security / Firewalls


- Cisco Meraki, Cisco Catalyst, and Dell switch support experience

Role Purpose: The Thematic Director is responsible for technical development and quality of all Save the Children’s Food Security, Livelihoods and Resilience programs in Ethiopia in both humanitarian and development contexts.
