OpenAI has unveiled GPT-6 Astra, its new flagship model focused on computer use. It can independently interact with interfaces, browsers, and terminals, complete multistep tasks, and write code.

OpenAI says Astra performs strongly in mathematics, programming, science, and professional work, and outperforms Fable 5.1 on many benchmarks. The company also highlighted progress in understanding user intent.

🕯 Loracle Bets Against AI

Loracle has opened $75M in shorts from a $61M account, betting heavily against the Robinhood ecosystem and memory-chip makers. Positions include 22M Cashcat worth $6M, 9.13M PONS worth $5M, plus SNDK at $24M, NVDA at $19M, and Micron at $10M. Liquidation levels are $0.68 for Cashcat and $1.59 for PONS.

Previously, Loracle cited a scenario from Derivative Monke. A new Claude model, successor to Fable, will arrive in late September and disappoint, convincing markets that AI has hit a wall. Open-source models will catch up before reaching a similar limit by late October.

Anthropic will reportedly launch an IPO in late October at a $2T valuation, triggering an isolated AI industry crash as private investors create excess supply and retail investors recognize the growth story as marketing hype. A Fed rate hike around the same time would worsen the market cascade.

📈 Bitcoin-Gold Correlation Peaks

Bitcoin-gold correlation hit a six-year high. The 90-day BTC-gold relationship rose to 2020 levels, while correlation with stocks fell to a low. Bitwise research chief Andre Dragosh linked the move to August macro events.

After US Treasury bond purchases, Bitcoin rose 22.4%, gold gained 5%, and stocks fell. Investors are increasingly hedging currency-devaluation risks through both assets, with Bitcoin acting as an “amplified version of gold.”
