As we move towards our 141st anniversary, we are reminded that people come and go, but WMC has remained steadfast in its nature and purpose for more than 140 years. Anchored in God’s faithfulness, the story continues through generations of lives shaped and sent.

B shares, “Addiction is rarely a one-time battle. For me, it wasn’t as simple as praying once and suddenly being free.”

On 15 February, we mark 141 years of The Methodist Church in Singapore.
Over the last 141 years, MCS has sought to live out what John Wesley called “social holiness”, a faith that is never private, but expressed in love, service and responsibility towards our neighbours.
From pioneering schools that nurture generations, to community outreach and social services that care for the vulnerable, this “faith working by love” has shaped who we are.
In the latest edition of Methodist Message, Dr Roland Chia reflects on Wesley’s vision of social holiness and how MCS has practised it since our founding.
As we celebrate 141 years, may we continue to embody a faith that serves.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” — Matthew 28:19
If this is the Master’s command, then one question remains: How does He want us to go about it?
Ian from Sengkang Methodist Church invites us to reflect on what it means to evangelise not merely through argument or strategy, but through a life of faith.

Lent is here, a 40 day journey of preparation, repentance and renewal.
As we remember Jesus’ time in the wilderness and His road to the cross, we are invited to examine our own hearts, to lay aside what weighs us down, to resist what pulls us away from God, and to fix our eyes on Christ so that we may walk in newness of life.
Lent is not just about giving something up. It is about being formed, shaped more deeply into the likeness of Jesus.
What might God be shaping in you this season?

Matthew 5:13 reminds us, “You are the salt of the earth.”
Faith may feel easy within the four walls of our church building, but it’s what happens beyond them that reveals how real it truly is.
Ann Sze from Faith Methodist Church challenges us to reflect: Are we living evidently for Christ — even when it means doing things differently?

Level results are out… and we’d like to share a 67 that hits a little different today. Philippians 4:6–7 says, “Do not be anxious about anything… and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Whatever your results look like, this isn’t the end of your story. God’s plans don’t stop at one results slip.

We live in an age of rapid technological change—where AI is reshaping how we work, communicate, and even how we worship. This March, as we navigate this "digital Babylon", Bishop Philip Lim reminds us, "The danger lies not in using AI, but in confusing efficiency with wisdom, automation with discernment, and innovation with spiritual depth. AI can never be a substitute for prayer—it cannot replace communication and connection with the body of Christ."
As we engage our digital world thoughtfully, may we hold fast to what no machine can replicate. Faith is not about rejecting the tools of our time, but about using them wisely and redemptively—always anchored in the truth that "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom" (Proverbs 9:10)

Instead of living our lives constantly in front of our screens, we will do well to heed the dictum, “more grass, less glass.” Don’t just scroll with our fingers, let our toes caress the grass of the field for a change.
Professor Emeritus of Systematic Theology at Trinity Theological College, Mark L. Y. Chan, asks us to "rediscover how to live embodied life as God’s image-bearers—before God, in our bodies, on God’s earth and in the community of other people."

When a chatbot's answers feel clearer than prayer — when the comfort of an algorithm begins to replace the mystery of a living God — something sacred is quietly being lost.
And that, is precisely the danger.
Dr Roland Chia reminds us that “AI is but a tool, not a spiritual authority. It cannot replace prayer, theological reflection, pastoral presence or the gathered worship of the Church.”
