The June issue of Methodist Message is out!

·  Attachment styles and conflict response
Attachment Theory was introduced by Dr John Bowlby in the 1960s. This theory proposes that one's attachment style can influence how they experience and resolve conflict. Benny Bong shares his views on how our Christian faith could intersect with an understanding of attachment styles to foster more secure and loving relationships.

·  Toxicity detox
Toxic work environments are commonplace—it could take the form of a callous leader, stressed organisational systems or just unhealthy interpersonal relationships among colleagues. This article explores how Christians can rely on Scripture and Kingdom principles to navigate a toxic workplace, revive its culture and even thrive as God's witnesses in the marketplace.

2 Corinthians 5:18 says, "All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation."

This June, Bishop Philip Lim calls fellow Methodists to "hold the conviction that God's prevenient grace reaches every life, inviting sinners into repentance and restoration". Reconciliation, he reminds us, is both a sacred call and a practical one. It begins with humble listening — crossing generational divides and differing convictions with attentive speech that seeks understanding over argument.

Bishop Lim grounds this call in hope: the resurrected Christ reconciles the world to himself, and the Church is entrusted with that same ministry. As Wesleyan people, personal holiness and social holiness cannot be separated. Our congregations are called to practise grace, active listening and sustained justice — and in doing so, become living signs of God's reconciling reign.

Peace be with you. And also with you.

Dr Judith Laoyan-Mosomos shares with us, "To share the peace of Christ is to lay down our pride and our tendency to judge. It is to open our hearts—to God, and to one another—and to grow into a spirit of openness and a willingness to embrace others."

Dr Judith Laoyan-Mosomos is the Director for Worship & Church Music at the Methodist School of Music and a member of Kampong Kapor Methodist Church .

For Christians in the marketplace, the workplace is both a mission field and a testing ground.

Christians are not immune to toxic workplaces. Drawing on Scripture and practical wisdom, this article written by Vivienne Ng explores how believers can survive the pressure, revive their workplace culture and ultimately thrive as Kingdom witnesses in the marketplace.

Vivienne Ng is Director and Senior Consultant Clinical Psychologist at the Psychological Research and Evaluation (PRE) division of the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF).

Jesus Christ Superstar is coming to Singapore this August and it raises a question: when popular culture portrays Christ and Christianity in ways that are irreverent, incomplete, or theologically skewed, how should Christians respond?

Created by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice in 1970, Jesus Christ Superstar retells the final days of Jesus through the eyes of Judas Iscariot. First released as a concept album before becoming a Broadway musical and later a film, it has since been staged worldwide.

Rev Timothy Ang, pastor at Holy Covenant Methodist Church and is faculty-in-development with Trinity Theological College, shares on how Christians may respond and offers a framework for thoughtful Christian engagement with culture.

Which disciple are you? 👀 Meet four biblical figures whose relationships with Jesus reflect the four attachment styles — Secure, Anxious, Avoidant-Dismissive, and Fearful-Avoidant.

And the best part? Jesus met each one exactly where they were with patience and love. Which one resonates with you? Drop it in the comments!

Disclaimer: This is a fun, creative exploration of attachment theory through a biblical lens. The Bible does not use psychological terminology or reference attachment styles. This post is not a theological or psychological claim, but an invitation to reflect on how Jesus relates to us in our different ways of connecting with others.
