On August 17 and 18, I had the opportunity to take part in a valuable two-day training on Competency-Based Learning, Digital Pedagogy, and Instructional Design.
It was practical, engaging, and gave me a better understanding of how we can design learning experiences that focus not just on what students learn, but on what they can actually do.
A great learning experience with the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship Cohort III.
A big thank you to Reach for Change Ethiopia and the Mastercard Foundation for creating this opportunity, and to Professor Kassa Michael and Alemu for facilitating such an insightful and practical training. 🙏

I told myself, “Let me just do this for 5 minutes.”
Four hours later… I’m still working. 😂
And honestly, sometimes the hardest part isn’t the work itself. It’s convincing yourself to start.
You don’t always need motivation to finish the whole thing.
Sometimes, you just need to tell yourself:
“Just 5 minutes.”
Start small. Let momentum do the rest. 🤍

“Am I too beautiful that you couldn’t take your eyes off me?”
The question almost slipped from my lips as I caught myself staring at the one who seemed to be staring back at me.
Oh, my bad.
I was the one staring.
The moon had quietly taken all my attention, and before I knew it, I was asking her questions, questions I didn’t even know I had been carrying all day.
And I kept asking…
Because somehow, this wasn’t how I expected the day to end.
This wasn’t how I imagined the day I had waited a whole year for would end.
This wasn’t how Ashenda was supposed to feel.
There was supposed to be joy in it. Lightness. Laughter. That familiar feeling of celebrating something that had been waiting for us all year.
But tonight, even the moon felt different🖤

The ML Roadmap is finally live.
When I started learning ML, the hardest part wasn't the math or the code. It was not knowing what to learn next. I ended up learning everything I could find, and honestly a good chunk of it I never use. Along the way I kept notes on the parts that actually mattered, and this roadmap came out of those notes plus a lot of research on how to order the nodes properly, from fundamentals all the way to deployment.
What's in it: a checklist at every node, questionnaires to test yourself, over 80 curated resource links, and real projects built on actual datasets. It starts by figuring out where you already are and points you to the right node instead of making you start from zero. Nodes stay locked until you finish the one before it, so the path stays honest.
This is the first version and it will keep growing. I'd like to hear what the experience feels like, what's missing, and what you'd want added.

Life is unfair. This is a fact. Complaining about it is useless. Expecting it to be fair is childish. Play the hand you were dealt. Play it to the best of your ability.

✌️ Reflections from The Africa Mindset Reset Forum! (Kigali, RW)
I recently had the privilege of representing CMU-A as a delegate at The Africa Mindset Reset Forum at the KCC. Organised by the ASG, the forum gathered leaders, visionaries, and young change-makers to explore a critical transition agenda: moving from Pan-Africanism to Meta-Africanism.
TBH, My schedule was a bit tight, but I managed to slip in for 4 hours.
My main takeaway from that: In any endeavor (Economy, Technology, Politics...)
Potential doesn't build the future; execution does!
Grateful for connecting with the scholars and peer youngsters out there!
