Also - I can't get over this mindfuck, but.. There's a limit to how much a function can grow if you only have addition/multiplication/etc. and function composition in your toolbox (i.e. Peano arithmetic).
There's just a hard limit. You can define a function that will eventually dominate all the other functions that are defined by recursion.
Now, this limit is HUGE. And when I say "huge", I do actually mean it. It's so mind-numbingly huge that for all intents and purposes you can just replace it with infinity for all values greater than 1, because you won't ever be able to grasp what those values even are.
This isn't just your googolplex or some puny shit like that. It's grandiose. It has zero applications in physics due to how large these numbers are; so we just do it for fun, just to push the limits of math, because math is the only thing that can contain these numbers.
