The US has used this strategy before in every war so far, especially in Ukraine, when they played Putin several times with some kind of negotiations and agreements, before escalating.
Or it could mean that the US is sending signals to Iran to convince it to completely abandon its nuclear program before the strike.
But the idea that Trump would abandon Israel just like that is ridiculous, even if you think about it.
