🔻Generalized Cohomology and Physics. 2.11.21 - 4.11.21
The event will bring together physicists working on various topics in physics that utilize generalized cohomology theories, as well as mathematicians working on functorial quantum field theories and their classification, topological modular forms, cobordisms, and other cohomology theories that appear in physics problems.
🔹 Classification of symmetry protected topological states (SPTs) and anomalies in QFTs via cobordisms, with applications to condensed matter, particle physics and beyond standard model theories. The mathematical counterpart is classification of extended invertible topological QFTs, defined on manifolds with various structures.
🔸 Classification of supersymmetric QFTs via generalized cohomology theories such as KO (real K-theory), TMF (topological modular forms), and their possible generalizations. Construction of new renormalization group flow invariants generalizing (flavored) Witten index.
🔹 Swampland program and cobordisms. Cobordisms with extra structures that appear in quantum gravity, String theory and M-theory.

🔻Nonlinear inverse problem for the equation of propagation of longitudinal waves with non-self-adjoint boundary conditions. 11.11, 10.00 - 12.00
by Prof. Elvin I. Azizbayov (The Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Baku, Azerbaijan and Baku State University)
Abstract:
In the presented work the inverse coefficient problem for the equation of propagation of longitudinal waves with non-self-adjoint boundary conditions is investigated. The main purpose of this report is to prove the existence and uniqueness of the classical solution of the considered inverse boundary-value problem. To study the solvability of the inverse problem, we carried out the transition from the original problem to some equivalent auxiliary problem with trivial boundary conditions. Then, using the Fourier method and contraction mappings principle, the solvability of the corresponding auxiliary inverse problem is proved. Furthermore, using the equivalency, the existence and uniqueness of the classical solution of the original problem is shown.

🔻 On recurrence of diffusion with switching. 16.11, 17.00 - 18.00
by Alexander Veretennikov (Institute for Information Transmission Problems (Kharkevich Institute))
Abstract:
The Markov system ”Diffusion with switching” is otherwise called ”Diffusion in a random environment”, where this environment is due to a discrete component of the system, which is usually an independent ergodic Markov chain. Assume that depending on this discrete variable the diffusion component may be either in a recurrent or in a transient regime. Sufficient conditions for the overall positive recurrence are established. The notion of positive recurrence is, in particular, important because of the link of this property with the existence of the invariant measure and convergence to it. The talk will be based on the preprint.

🔻 Pseudo-differential equation with spatial p-adic variables and some of their applications. 25.11, 10.00 - 12.00.
by Dr Alexandra Antoniouk (Institute of Mathematics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine)
Abstract:
The p-adic Mathematics is widely used in the Theoretical Physics and Biology. It attracts a great interest in quantum mechanics, string theory, quantum gravity, spin-glass theory and system biology.
The concept of a hierarchical energy landscape is very important from the point of view of the description of relaxation phenomena in complex systems, in particular, spin glasses, clusters and proteins. This concept can be outlined as follows. A complex system is assumed to have a large number of metastable configurations which realize local minima on the potential energy surface. The local minima are clustered in hierarchically nested basins of minima, namely, each large basin consists of smaller basins, each of these consisting of even smaller ones, and so on. Thus we may say that the hierarchy of basins possesses ultrametric geometry and transitions between the basins determine the rearrangements of the system configuration for different time scales. Thus the key points of the concept of a hierarchical structure which is typical for p-adic world is the main advantage which can be used for the description of the complex phenomenon.
Using a p-adic interpretation of a porous medium and the hydrodynamic description of fluids we give an example of a non-Archimedean mathematical model of fluid propagating through a porous medium.
