We are so happy to see the families attending the masājid after two years of limitations. May Allah bless everyone. Along with good intentions, we must maintain the proper etiquette of the masjid. I want to share a brief reminder to all about bringing small children to the Masjid when they disturb the worshippers (courtesy of Salafi Masjid)
Important advice about the rows of the women in the Masjid:
The rulings of men and women are the same, unless there are texts proving otherwise. The default ruling of the rows in prayer is to complete the first row before beginning another.
Some sisters misunderstand the hadīth: “the best rows of the women are the last and the worst are the first” to mean that the women’s rows begin with the back of the womens musalla and end with the first. This is not the case.
The reason and meaning of the hadīth is to discourage the close proximity of the sexes and to discourage free-mingling and anything that leads to inappropriate contact between men and women. This manner of lining up the rows for prayer is not what is intended.
Actually, In the situation of modern masājid where there is a barrier between men and women, then the best row for the women is the first and the worst is the last, as has been stated by our scholars, such as the two great Imāms Ibn Bāz and Ibn ‘Uthaymīn.
I hope this clears up any confusion on the matter.
May Allah bless you all.
