*Oil & Gas*
*Mixed Q2; GAIL, IGL & BPCL outperform*
*Q2FY2022 Results Review*
*Sector: Oil & Gas*
*View: Positive*
*Summary*
• In Q2FY22, CGDs such as MGL/Gujarat Gas missed estimates as margins declined, while IGL outperformed with a slight q-o-q rise in margins; volume growth was robust for all CGD players. GAIL posted stellar earnings as high spot LNG prices lifted gas marketing segment’s profitability.
• OMCs’ earnings rose q-o-q led by a strong recovery in GRM, despite lower inventory gains. ONGC/Oil India witnessed strong earnings growth on higher crude oil prices and dividend income, but Oil India missed estimate on high well write-off cost.
• We stay constructive on CGD players given strong, volume-led earnings growth visibility and high RoEs. OMCs’ core earnings would improve led by a recovery in GRMs & BPCL privatisation key to re-rating of OMCs.
• Preferred picks - Reliance Industries, MGL, IGL, GAIL, GSPL, Oil India, BPCL and HPCL.
*Key risks:* 1) Lower-than-expected gas sales volume amid COVID-19 led demand slowdown. 2) A delay in the development of new GAs and a sharp rise in domestic and imported gas prices. Favourable policies for electric vehicles (although adoption of EVs has been slow in India) could affect the growth outlook for CGD companies. 3) Lower refining margin and further delay in BPCL privatisation.
*Leaders for Q2FY2022:* RIL, GAIL, ONGC, IGL and BPCL

*On long growth runway post strong Q2*
*Q2FY2022 Results Review*
*Sector: IT Services Sector*
*View: Positive*
*Summary*
• Tier-I IT companies reported strong sequential revenue growth, driven by higher spending on digital and cloud transformation program and robust demand. Yet, mid-tier players clocked better revenue growth.
• EBIT margin swere resilient (in line/above our expectations) despite supply-side issues, a rise in hiring expenses and increased sub-contractor costs.
• Companies indicated that demand is expected to remain strong in the next 2-3 years led by urgency for transformation, emergence of new areas of spending and a global talent shortage. Supply-side challenges and normalisation of travel expenses are likely to weigh on margins in the near term.
• We stay Positive on the IT sector given accelerated spending on business transformation initiatives. Our preferred picks are Infosys, Tech Mahindra, TCS, HCL Technologies, Mastek, Birlasoft, Persistent Systems and LTTS.
*Key risks:* 1) Rupee appreciation vis-à-vis the US Dollar would affect earnings estimates for FY2022E/FY2023E/ FY2024E and stock performance, 2) weaker macros including a potential for slower GDP growth in the US and Europe,3) delay in pipeline conversion and (4) continued supply-side issues.
*Leaders for Q2FY2022:* Wipro, Tech M, Infosys, Persistent Systems, Intellect Design, L&T Infotech, Birlasoft, Tata Elxsi, and LTTS
*Preferred Picks:*
*Largecaps:* Pecking order: Infosys, Tech Mahindra, TCS, HCL Tech, Wipro
*Midcaps: Pecking order:* Mastek, Birlasoft, Intellect Design, Persistent Systems, L&T Tech, L&T Infotech, and Tata Elxsi
