Cabinet approves Nutrient Based Subsidy (NBS) rates for Phosphatic & Potassic (P&K) Fertilisers for the year 2021-22 (from 1st October, 2021 to 31st March, 2022)

Net subsidy of Rs.28,655 crore for Rabi 2021-22

(i)  Total amount of Rollover will be Rs. 28,602 crore.
(ii) Special one-time package for additional subsidy on DAP at the tentative additional cost of Rs. 5,716 crore.

iii) Special one-time package for additional subsidy on three most consumed NPKs gradesviz. NPK 10-26-26, NPK 20-20-0-13 and NPK 12-32-16 at the tentative cost of Rs. 837crore. Total subsidy required will be 35,115 crore.

The CCEA also approved the inclusion of Potash derived from Molasses (0:0:14.5:0) underthe NBSScheme.

• The board of TAMO has approved incorporation of a subsidiary TML EVCo to undertake its passenger electric mobility business.
• TPG Rise Climate along with co-investors shall invest Rs 7,500 Cr in compulsory convertible preference shares to secure between 11 % to 15 % stake in this company translating to an equity valuation of up to $9.1 bn.
• 50% of the amount would be given by March 2022 and the remaining by Dec 2022.
• Co plans to invest a total of more than Rs. 16,000 Cr over next 5 years in products, platforms, drive trains, dedicated EV manufacturing, charging infrastructure and advanced technologies.
• Over the next 5 years, this company will create a portfolio of 10 EVs and in association with Tata Power Ltd, catalyse the creation of a widespread charging infrastructure to facilitate rapid EV adoption in India.
• The new co will remain asset light; and the old PV co will act as a toll manufacturer for the EV co as well as continue to sell traditional PVs.
• Existing brands, IPs, network would remain with the traditional co and the EV co would be charged royalty on arms length basis. Fresh EV brands, IPs produced by the EV co shall rest with the EV co.
• PV EV Industry achieved sales of 5910 EV units in FY21 and is on track to sell 15-16k units in FY22 (YoY Growth of 2.5x). Industry is expected to increase share of EVs to double digits over the next 5 years.
• TAMO plans to increase its EV share in total PV sales to 20% over the next 5 years.
• TAMO already has 71% EV market share in FY21 (from 18% in FY19).
• Tata Nexon is the No. 1 selling EV in India.

1. PM Modi will launch PM GatiShakti – National Master Plan for multi-modal connectivity today at 11 AM at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. Gati Shakti will be a National Infrastructure Master Plan which will lay the foundation of holistic infrastructure and will lead to an integrated and holistic pathway to our economy

2. PM Modi addresses 28th National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) foundation day programme; says India is committed to human rights. He said, when the poorest of the poor do not get an equal share of the government schemes then the question of rights arises.

3. *Judges elevated as chief justices of various high courts* :

(a). Justice Mohammed Rafiq- Himachal Pradesh High Court as its new chief justice.

7. *Ph.D not mandatory for recruitment as assistant professors till July 2023:* UGC extends date of applicability of Ph.D as mandatory qualification for direct recruitment of assistant professors in Departments of Universities from July 1, 2021 to July 1, 2023.

8. *Andhra Pradesh* : Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy inaugurated the Sri Padmavathi Paediatric Cardiac Hospital – the first of its kind exclusive children’s heart hospital in the state.

9. *J&K* :In major anti-militancy operations in J&K launched following selective killings, security forces have eliminated seven militants since Monday night.

10. *Karnataka* : The Cauvery Water Regulation Committee urged Karnataka to release Tamil Nadu’s due of 25.84 TMC feet of Cauvery water, besides making available the mandatory 14 TMC feet water at Biligundlu before October 30.

11. An earthquake measuring 3.5 magnitude on richter scale shook parts of Kalaburagi district on Tuesday morning but no loss of life or damage to property has been reported. This is the sixth earthquake to hit north Karnataka region around Bidar and Kalaburagi since October 1. While two had occurred in Basavakalyan on October 1 and 5, four were recorded in Kalaburagi on October 9, 11 and 12.

12. *Kerala* CM Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday said instructions would be given to complete the government level procedures at the earliest to withdraw police cases registered during the Sabarimala and anti-CAA protests in the state.

15. *Maharashtra*: Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) is set to reopen its Terminal 1 for domestic flights from October 13.

16. *Punjab* Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu is scheduled to meet All India Congress Committee general secretary (organisation) on 14 Oct (Thursday ( to discuss “organisational matters related to Punjab”.

17. *Telangana* : While the Election Commission has previously removed the autorickshaw, truck, hat and iron box from the list of 'free symbols' for Independents and unrecognised registered parties following request from the TRS, the party is now seeking freezing of some more symbols that resemble its ‘Car’ symbol.

18. *Bollywood*: Big B Amitabh Bachchan has terminated his contract with a pan masala brand (Kamala Pasand), saying that he wasn’t aware that the promotion ‘falls under surrogate advertising’. The decision comes after a national anti-tobacco organization requested him to withdraw from the ad campaign, claiming that it would prevent youngsters from getting addicted to tobacco.

1. Foreign Minister S Jaishankar is holding a series of meetings this week in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Armenia, India’s key partners in Central Asia and Eurasia. During the first leg of his visit, Jaishankar on 11 Oct (Monday) held extensive dialogues with Kyrgz foreign minister Ruslan Kazakbaev in Bishkek on the Afghan situation.

2. G20 leaders agreed to work together to avoid a humanitarian disaster in Afghanistan, as the EU pledged a one-billion-euro aid package and host Italy stressed the need to maintain contacts with the Taliban.

3. As the Islamist group held its first face-to-face talks with a US-EU delegation in Qatar, US President Joe Biden, Turkey's Recep Tayyip Erdogan and India's PM Modi joined a virtual summit on the looming economic and humanitarian crises sparked by the Taliban's return to power.

1. The United Nations Security Council strongly condemned the "atrocious" ISIS terror attack on a mosque in Afghanistan and other recent attacks against religious institutions .

2. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un reviewed a rare exhibition of weapons systems and vowed to build an "invincible" military, as he accused the United States of creating tensions and not taking action to prove it has no hostile intent toward the North.

3. The Dutch crown princess can marry whoever she wants without giving up her right to the throne, Prime Minister Mark Rutte said. He also said, princess can marry a person of whatever gender she chooses without forfeiting her right to the throne.

Crown Princess Catharina-Amalia, 17, has not made any comments on the matter. The question arose after recently published books argued that the country’s rules exclude the possibility of a same-sex royal couple. Unlike regular marriages, royal marriages need the approval of parliament. Members of the Dutch royal house have on occasion given up their place in the line of succession to marry someone without permission. Gay marriage was legalized in the Netherlands in 2001.

4. At least 28 people were killed and more than a dozen injured on 12 Oct after a packed passenger bus plunged off a road in a hilly region in northwestern Nepal.

5. More than 130 Yemeni rebels have been killed in strikes south of Marib, since fighting for Marib flared last month. Marib city is the internationally recognised government's last bastion in oil-rich northern Yemen. Hundreds of Iran-backed Huthi rebels and government loyalists have died. According to military sources, the rebels seized Al-Jawbah district in southern Marib province.
