Yen Weakens Past 160 Per Dollar
The Japanese yen weakened beyond the 160 per dollar level for the first time since July 31, with USD/JPY rising as much as 0.39% to 160.02. The move highlights renewed pressure on the yen as the currency continues to struggle against the dollar.
Traders are closely watching levels around 160 because a further decline in the yen could increase the risk of Japanese authorities intervening to support the currency. Markets remain focused on whether intervention can slow the yen’s weakness or whether underlying economic factors will continue to drive the currency lower.
