45 INDIAN POWER PLANTS FACE CRITICALLY LOW COAL INVENTORIES
• 45 power plants now have coal stocks below critical levels, up from 31 at end-July
• 40 of the affected plants are domestic coal-fired plants
• Heavy rainfall in Odisha, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh has disrupted mining and coal transportation
• Higher power demand is also accelerating coal consumption
• Coal inventories have fallen around 19% from end-July levels through August
• Some plants have less than 3 days of coal stock
