ITC going big in Biscuit Industry

- Sunfeast takes on popular Bangladeshi biscuit brand Pran Potata Spicy Biscuit

The RBI asked co-operative banks to ensure that their outsourcing arrangements do not diminish their ability to fulfil their obligations to customers and the RBI. Further, such arrangements should not impede effective supervision by the RBI / NABARD. “Co-operative banks, therefore, have to take steps to ensure that the service provider employs the same high standard of care in performing the services as would be employed by them, if the activities were conducted by the banks and not outsourced,” said the RBI in its ‘Guidelines for Managing Risk in Outsourcing of Financial Services by Co-operative Banks’.

The the huge slowdown in credit offtake is worrying banking sector with growth in hit due to lack of investments from the private sector and low capital expenditure by corporates, said V S Radhakrishnan, Deputy Managing Director at SBI. Deposit growth has been close to 10% in May 2021 as customers opt for savings rather than consumption.

Banks have so far lent 90% of the Rs 3 lakh crore under emergency credit line guarantee scheme announced last year to help small businesses tide over the pandemic, according to a report by Crisil. On Monday, the Govt expanded the emergency credit line guarantee scheme (ECLGS) by another Rs 1.5 lakh Cr, which Crisil feels will help alleviate the potential stress on asset quality of banks arising from the second wave of the pandemic.

The SBI will levy charges for cash withdrawal beyond 4 free transactions in a month from customers holding the basic savings bank deposit (BSBD) accounts. These customers will also be levied charges for cheque book beyond 10 leaves in a year. As per the revision in service charges for BSBD accounts, SBI will levy charges ranging from Rs 15 to Rs 75 for the "additional value added services" with effect from July 1, 2021.
