The Finance Industry Development Council (FIDC) has urged the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) to address issues faced by MSME borrowers and the NBFCs catering to these enterprises. The industry body of retail NBFCs had a virtual meeting with Nitin Gadkari, the Minister of MSMEs on June 15. On Friday, FIDC wrote to the minister outlining the needs of the sector. FIDC in its letter has requested the loop minister to include wholesale and retail trade in the list of activities allowed for registration as MSME and also make consequent changes to the 'Udyam' portal.

Bank of Maharashtra has become top performer among public sector lenders in terms of retail and MSME loan growth during 2020-21. The bank recorded a 35% growth in MSME loans at Rs 23,133 Cr in 2020-21, according to the Bank of Maharashtra data. It was followed by the Indian Bank which posted a 15.22% growth in loan disbursal to MSMEs with aggregate loans at Rs 70,180 crore at the end of March 2021. When it came to loans to retail, Bank of Maharashtra with nearly 25.61% growth was ahead of even the SBI which recorded 16.47% rise.

Karnataka Bank has declared accounts of Reliance Home Finance and Reliance Commercial Finance a fruad with combined loan outstandings of over Rs 160 Cr to the lender. The bank has reported to the RBI regarding frauds in the credit facilities extended earlier to two listed companies -- Reliance Home Finance with loan outstanding of Rs 21.94 Cr and Reliance Commercial Finance Rs 138.41 Cr as fraud, Karnataka Bank said in a regulatory filing.

The joint venture floated by Centrum Group and digital payments startup Bharatpe for launching a small finance bank will infuse Rs 1,800 Cr capital into troubled Punjab & Maharashtra Cooperative Bank (PMC) on its merger with the proposed bank, a top Centrum official has said.

Mumbai-based NBFC Authum Investment and Infrastructure has been declared as the preferred bidder for Anil Ambani's debt laden Reliance Home Finance with over 90% of the creditors voting for the Co. Saturday was the last date for the voting which started on May 31 and creditors which included private and public sector banks and bondholders selected Authum to take over the Co.

SEBI has asked mortgage lender PNB Housing Finance to temporarily halt its proposed share sale programme. On 31 May, investors led by Carlyle Group announced an investment of ₹4,000 Cr in PNB Housing Finance.

However, market experts noted that FPIs withdrew money from Indian equities this week. According to depositories data, FPIs invested Rs 15,312 Cr in equities between June 1 and June 18.

SBI's valuation diminished by Rs 14,948.73 Cr to Rs 3,68,407.96 Cr and that of HDFC declined Rs 12,796.03 Cr to Rs 4,49,176.18 Cr. The market capitalisation of Kotak Mahindra Bank dipped Rs 6,908.63 Cr to Rs 3,49,019.23 Cr and that of ICICI Bank dived Rs 3,644.88 Cr to Rs 4,36,390.78 Cr.

HDFC Bank's valuation eroded by Rs 3,503.96 Cr to reach Rs 8,16,587.81 Cr and that of Bajaj Finance dipped Rs 1,901.32 Cr to Rs 3,67,425.99 Cr. In the ranking of top-10 most valued firms, RIL maintained its numero uno status, followed by TCS, HDFC Bank, Infosys, HUL, HDFC, ICICI Bank, SBI, Bajaj Finance and Kotak Mahindra Bank. During the last week, the 30-share BSE benchmark Sensex declined 130.31 points or 0.24%.

Stocks To Watch
Centrum Capital: Reserve Bank of India has granted in-principle approval to Centrum Financial Services to set up a small finance bank. The in-principle approval was given after Centrum Financial Services, in partnership with Bharat Pe, submitted an expression of interest for PMC Bank. The SFB will be guided by the directions and timelines of the RBI on the amalgamation of Punjab & Maharashtra Co-Operative Bank.
HDFC Bank: To buy 4.99% stake in HDFC Ergo from Housing Development Finance Corporation for Rs 1,906.43 crore. HDFC Bank to buy the 3.56 crore shares at Rs 536 per share. Transaction to be concluded on an arm's length basis as HDFC Bank is a related party for HDFC Ltd. Transaction to require regulatory approval from IRDAI and RBI. Further the bank has recommended a dividend of Rs 6.50 per share for FY21. The record date for the same is June 30.
PNB Housing Finance: SEBI has put PNB Housing Finance's preferential issue on hold. The markets regulator found that the valuation of shares undertaken by the company was "ultra vires" of Articles of Association. Preferential issue shall not be acted upon till the company undertakes the valuation of shares from
an independent registered valuer, SEBI said. PNB Housing Finance said it is evaluating further steps.
Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. added the most active users among peers in March as it snapped two straight months of decline. Jio added 7.3 million regularly paying subscribers, according to data released by TRAI. Bharti Airtel Ltd added 4.8 million such subscribers in March against the six-month average of 4.5 million. Vodafone Idea Ltd lost 0.4 million against an average decline of 1.4 million in the last six months.
Phillips Carbon Black: Commissioned 8 MW power plant at Mundra in Gujarat.
Adani Power: The Committee of Creditors of Essar Power MP Ltd, a company undergoing insolvency resolution under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, has approved the resolution plan submitted by Adani Power.EPMPL owns a 1,200 MW power plant in Singrauli District, Madhya Pradesh. The closure of the transaction will be subject to obtaining necessary approval from the NCLT and satisfaction of conditions precedent under the resolution plan.
NBCC (India): Has awarded the work order for construction of residential towers and civic amenities at Karkardooma in New Delhi on TOD Norms, EPC mode to NCC Ltd at their quoted price of Rs 859.84 crore.
Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd: Crisil has downgraded the rating on the long-term bank facilities of the company from AA/Negative to AA-/Negative. The rating on the short-term facilities has been reaffirmed at A1+.
ICICI Bank: S&P has reaffirmed bank’s rating at BBB- and has changed the outlook from negative to stable. According to the rating agency, ICICI Bank's capitalisation will remain strong over the next 24 months, aided by better earnings and profit from sale of stake in subsidiaries.
Jammu & Kashmir Bank: Appointed Pratik Punjabi as Chief Financial Officer of the Bank for a period of three year. Punjabi to replace Rajni Saraf as CFO.
Fine Organic Industries: Made an investment by way of acquisition of 22,500 ordinary shares at a par value of THB 100 per share in the new joint venture company, Fine Organic Industries (Thailand).

Centrum Capital: Reserve Bank of India has granted in-principle approval to Centrum Financial Services to set up a small finance bank. The in-principle approval was given after Centrum Financial Services, in partnership with Bharat Pe, submitted an expression of interest for PMC Bank. The SFB will be guided by the directions and timelines of the RBI on the amalgamation of Punjab & Maharashtra Co-Operative Bank.
HDFC Bank: To buy 4.99% stake in HDFC Ergo from Housing Development Finance Corporation for Rs 1,906.43 crore. HDFC Bank to buy the 3.56 crore shares at Rs 536 per share. Transaction to be concluded on an arm's length basis as HDFC Bank is a related party for HDFC Ltd. Transaction to require regulatory approval from IRDAI and RBI. Further the bank has recommended a dividend of Rs 6.50 per share for FY21. The record date for the same is June 30.
PNB Housing Finance: SEBI has put PNB Housing Finance's preferential issue on hold. The markets regulator found that the valuation of shares undertaken by the company was "ultra vires" of Articles of Association. Preferential issue shall not be acted upon till the company undertakes the valuation of shares from
an independent registered valuer, SEBI said. PNB Housing Finance said it is evaluating further steps.
Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. added the most active users among peers in March as it snapped two straight months of decline. Jio added 7.3 million regularly paying subscribers, according to data released by TRAI. Bharti Airtel Ltd added 4.8 million such subscribers in March against the six-month average of 4.5 million. Vodafone Idea Ltd lost 0.4 million against an average decline of 1.4 million in the last six months.

Adani Power: The Committee of Creditors of Essar Power MP Ltd, a company undergoing insolvency resolution under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, has approved the resolution plan submitted by Adani Power.EPMPL owns a 1,200 MW power plant in Singrauli District, Madhya Pradesh. The closure of the transaction will be subject to obtaining necessary approval from the NCLT and satisfaction of conditions precedent under the resolution plan.
NBCC (India): Has awarded the work order for construction of residential towers and civic amenities at Karkardooma in New Delhi on TOD Norms, EPC mode to NCC Ltd at their quoted price of Rs 859.84 crore.
Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd: Crisil has downgraded the rating on the long-term bank facilities of the company from AA/Negative to AA-/Negative. The rating on the short-term facilities has been reaffirmed at A1+.
ICICI Bank: S&P has reaffirmed bank’s rating at BBB- and has changed the outlook from negative to stable. According to the rating agency, ICICI Bank's capitalisation will remain strong over the next 24 months, aided by better earnings and profit from sale of stake in subsidiaries.
Jammu & Kashmir Bank: Appointed Pratik Punjabi as Chief Financial Officer of the Bank for a period of three year. Punjabi to replace Rajni Saraf as CFO.
