*4.10 PM, 01st June 2021:*

*LATEST AFTER THE BELL: The benchmarks take a breather.*

*Nifty (-08, 15575).*

After fresh all-time highs in today’s trade and seven straight green sessions, the benchmarks finally took a breather as Nifty ended almost unchanged at 15575 mark while Sensex too closed at 51935 mark. Also, volumes remained thin as the 75% peak margins norms came into effect from today. Sectorwise, barring the Nifty Media, Pharma, and IT indices, all other indices ended the day in the red.

Weighing on investor’s sentiment was also the fact that a cut in GDP growth forecast by global agency Moody's. Earlier today, Moody's said it expects the damage to the economy from the second wave of Covid-19 and the ensuing lockdowns to be restricted to the April-June 2021 quarter. Taking the slowdown into account, it now expects India's GDP in the fiscal year ending March 2022 to grow at 9.3% and at 7.9% in FY23.
European stocks hit fresh record highs earlier in the day, as strong metal and oil prices boosted shares of big commodity companies, while data showed euro zone manufacturing activity expanded at a record pace of 63.1 levels in May.

In Asia, Japan's Nikkei slipped 0.2%, South Korea's Kospi gained 0.5%, China's Shanghai Composite added 0.26%, and Australia's ASX200 fell 0.3%.
In the commodities market, Brent Crude futures advanced over 2 per cent on Tuesday, nearing $71 per barrel-mark, ahead of the OPEC+ meeting scheduled later in the day.

*The other key highlights of today’s trade:*

• Nifty hits all-time high at 15661 mark.
• Only 19 stocks of the Nifty 50 stocks ended the day in green.
• Top Index Gainers: ADANIPORTS (+3.83%), ONGC (+3.43%), BAJAJFINANCE (+2.61%)
• Top Index Losers: JSWSTEEL (-2.24%), TATASTEEL (-2.22%), ICICIBANK (-1.82%)
• Nifty Bank index ended at 35337.20, down 0.53%, thus clearly underperforming the benchmark Nifty.

*Our view for Wednesday’s trade:*

Technically speaking, buying on dips should be the preferred strategy as long as Nifty’s intraday support at 15331 remains intact.

Amongst stocks, Jindal Steel and Power will be a screaming buy on any close above 411 mark.
