1. Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit on Friday gave Rs 10 lakh to the Tamil Nadu Animal Welfare Board CSR fund to feed stray animals during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meaning of *Shivalinga*

As the Shiva Puran states, the universe consists of bindu (Singularity, a dot) and Nada (the sound that pervades into eternity). In other words, bindu is immovable, fixed and hence Purush. Nada is movable, all pervading and hence Prakriti. Shiva is Bindu. Kali is Nada

From the fusion of *bindu* and *nada* is born the universe (this sounded roughly similar as the *big bang* theory, where the idea is that universe originated from Singularity). The idea of bindu and nada is depicted by union of lingam and Yoni. As Kali, who is Prakriti, sits upon Shiva and the union of lingam and Yoni happens, Shiva becomes Bhagvan. Bhaga means Yoni and one who fuses into Yoni is Bhagavan or Bharga.

Just as the fusion of lingam (phallus) into Yoni (vagina) gives a spark to life in human context, fusion of bindu and nada gives a spark to creation of brahmaand in universal context.

It is a symbol of Shiva and Shakti, bindu and nada, Purush and Prakriti.

Thus, we worship this eternal symbol of Shiva and Shakti because it symbolically depicts the creation, at both, literal and symbolic level.

The RBI today clarified that banks and other regulated entities cannot cite its 2018 circular on cryptocurrencies as the circular has been set aside by the Supreme Court in in March, 2020. The circular is not valid from the date of the SC order and cannot be cited or quoted from, the RBI said. However, the central bank asked banks to carry out the necessary customer due diligence process in line with regulations governing standards for Know Your Customer (KYC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Combating of Financing of Terrorism (CFT) and obligations of regulated entities under Prevention of Money Laundering Act, (PMLA), 2002. Also, banks need to ensure compliance with relevant provisions under Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) for overseas remittances, the RBI said.

The RBI has extended the banking license of the Rupee Co-operative Bank till August 31. Till March-2021, the Bank has made total recovery of Rs.263.93 crores and aggregate operating profit of Rs.70.70 crores during the last 5 years, a release from the Bank said. "The Bank has taken steps like attachment of properties of defaulter borrowers, public auctions of the same, filing criminal suits against defaulter borrowers/guarantors, etc. The Bank has also informed the names of its defaulter borrowers /guarantors to other banks for effective recovery," said Sudhir Pandit, administrator, Rupee Bank.

The functioning of asset reconstruction companies (ARCs) in India should be transparent and subject to scrutiny including by parliamentary panels, the All-India Bank Employees’ Association (AIBEA) wrote to the RBI. “Selling bad loans to ARCs should be the last resort and recovery should be the foremost task," the union said in its letter on 30 May. Last month, RBI constituted a committee that would examine the role of ARCs in stressed debt resolution and review their business model.
