*Today's top News*

1. *CPI(M) veteran Pinarayi Vijayan, who led the Left Democratic Front (LDF) to an unprecedented consecutive victory in the April 6 assembly polls, on Thursday took oath as Chief Minister of Kerala for the second time along with 20 ministers.*

2. Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan administered the oath of office to 77-year-old Vijayan and ministers in a low-key function at the Central Stadium here, which was held completely in accordance with the Covid protocol.

3. 150 GPS based ventilator beds from PM Cares Trust Fund established at Sardar Patel Covid Care Centre (SPCCC), New Delhi started functioning. This will be in addition to the 500 oxygen beds which are already functional at the centre. The ventilators will be used for providing critical care to the Covid19 patients.

4. The centre is serving as an important centre with the support of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Delhi Government and is providing much needed medical care to patients who need oxygen support. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had mandated the Force to provide the Doctors and paramedical staff for the SPCCC, Radha Soami Beas, Chhatarpur, New Delhi.

5. *PM Modi interacted with the state and district officials on the COVID-19 situation through video conference*: During the interaction, the officials thanked the Prime Minister for his leadership in the battle against Covid-19. The officials briefed the Prime Minister about the improving covid situation in their respective districts.

6. *The due date of furnishing of Return of Income for the Assessment Year 2021-22* , which is 31st July 2021 under sub-section (1) of section 139 of the Act, is extended to 30th September 2021.

7. *Assam govt announces free power supply to oxygen plants* : The state also announced the revival of the closed ones to avert any shortage of the live-saving gas amid the coronavirus pandemic

8. *Uttarakhand allows ration shops, grocery stores to open for 5 hours from May 21*

9. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has said that over 300 doctors have died due to COVID-19 during the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic while most deaths have been reported from Bihar.

10. WB CM Mamata Banerjee described the Prime minister’ meeting with chief ministers on the Covid situation on Thursday as “a super flop” and said that they felt “humiliated” and “insulted” for not being allowed to speak.

11. *Questions remain over why ONGC personnel ignored Tauktae warning*: The Union government has ordered an inquiry into the incident at Oil and Natural Gas Corporation's (ONGC's) Western Offshore site, off the Mumbai shore that led to at least 26 confirmed deaths. Fifty-five persons went missing and scores of others were stranded.

12. *Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry has urged the States and Union Territories to make fungal infection Mucormycosis known as black fungus, a notifiable disease under the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897.* The Ministry has asked all the government and private health facilities, medical colleges to follow guidelines for screening, diagnosis, management of Mucormycosis issued by the Union Health Ministry and Indian Council of Medical Research.

13. Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Thursday told Prime Minister Narendra Modi that mucormycosis or black fungus, which has claimed 90 lives in the state so far, is a matter of prime concern for it at present, and the state government needs more supply of the medicine used in its treatment.

14. *Now Money kept in various online wallets like Amazon pay, Ola money, Mobikwik, Phone pe, Delhi Metro Card etc. can be withdrawn using an ATM or Point of Sale Terminal.* Reserve bank of India permitted cash withdrawal of Rs. 2,000 per transaction with maximum limit of Rs. 10,000 per month. All non-bank Payment prepaid instruments can provide this service. But, for such transaction using card or wallet PIN or other additional authentication will be mandatory.
