Shaykh Rabee (rahimahullāh):

Meaning, that they recognised that guidance is from Allāh (alone). It is a favour, a bounty, and a mercy from Him (Subhanahu wa ta’āla) (which he grants to whomsoever he wills among His servants.

يَخۡتَصُّ بِرَحۡمَتِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُۗ وَٱللَّهُ ذُو ٱلۡفَضۡلِ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ

He selects for His Mercy whom He wills, and Allāh is the Owner of Great Bounty. Aal-e-Imran 3:74
