I love the Messenger of Allāh (Ṣallallāhū ʿalayhī wa sallam) more than myself, yet I do not celebrate the Mawlid (the Prophet’s birthday). In this, I am aligned with all the Companions of the Messenger of Allāh, with the Imāms of the Tābiʿīn (the generation after them), and with the four Imāms and leaders of the religion.

So tell me, by Allāh, O you who celebrate it: with whom are you aligned among the best generations? You will never find anyone. And if you mention someone from after the best generations, and I grant you that you are aligned with him, then tell me by Allāh: does he equal even one of those with whom I am aligned? In fact, does the large number of the later ones equal even a single Companion — may Allāh be pleased with them?

So O people, reflect and ponder. Do not be deceived by embellished words that hold no value. Do not let irrational emotions blind you. And do not be captives of inherited blind following that can be of no avail against the truth.
