🇺🇸U.S. authorities will pay off darknet founder's debt with seized Bitcoins
The debt owed to the state by Ross Ulbricht (aka the creator of the Silk Road darknet marketplace) will be repaid with seized 69,370 BTC, which is approximately $2.75 billion, for hacking the illegal platform in 2013.
‼️All of the coins were seized in November 2020 and Ulbricht has completely waived his claim to them.
The bitcoins will be sold at auction in the U.S., but if they don't find a buyer, they could probably also shed the market.
