Today is a significant date in the history of our great country – the 77th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. On June 22, 1941, fascist Germany, obsessed with the idea of racial superiority, invaded the territory of the USSR. A four-year battle for life and death began, which claimed the lives of millions and millions of valiant soldiers of the Red Army.
On this day we honor the veterans of the Great Patriotic War, who carried the Red Banner of Victory with honor all the way to Berlin. We remember the fallen soldiers who gave us peace and tranquility for many years, of which we are sincerely proud. Without any doubt, great deeds and feats remain in the minds of future generations, and we will never let their names sink into oblivion!
It's no secret that a number of countries unfriendly to Russia have been struggling for many years in vain attempts to rewrite those historical events, while not hiding their true intentions. The world will remember for a long time the inhuman crimes of the Third Reich, enslaved by the mania of pure blood. The unprecedented feat of our soldiers will be remembered in the same way.
I cordially congratulate the residents of our multinational and multi-confessional Russia on Victory Day! I sincerely wish you health, family well-being and a peaceful sky over your head!

Zmeiny Island Update—Combined Sources—May 9, 2019
1—The battle for the Zmeiny Island and the losses of the Ukrainian forces there are being compared, sardonically, to the Battle of Midway. The Ukrainian army has lost 8 (eight) aircraft and 10 (ten) helicopters over the course of one day.
2—It is likely that most of the helicopters were struck while at an intermediate jump landing site, en route to Zmeiny, by four Onyx missiles launched by the Russian forces from Crimea. Unlike Kalibr, Onyx missiles are supersonic, with speed up to 3,000 km/hour. That is why they were used to attack the helicopters, so as not to allow them time to escape the strike.
3—As a result, the Ukrainian air force never made it to Zmeiny island today. After the attack using Onyx missiles on the Chervonoglinsky aerodrome, the Ukrainian Su aircraft turned around halfway to the island. From the intermediate jump landing site in Izmail, the Ukrainian air assets were flown to the north.
4—The Zmeiny island is once again under the control of the Russian forces. [GB: although, judging from a closer reading of the statement of the Russian Ministry of Defence, the defending unit of the Russian army may never have left the island in the first place.]
5—The significant losses of the Ukrainian army are reflected in Rybar's most recent report, for May 9, 2022, as based on the internal conservative estimate reports of the Ukrainian General Staff.
