Stephen Torpey is set to replace Nick Cox at the head of Manchester United’s academy after being hand-picked for the role by Jason Wilcox.

It was announced in June that Cox would be leaving United after six years as their director of academy, to take up the role of technical director at Everton. Torpey has been academy director at Brentford since January 2024 and will take the same job title at United.

He is highly rated following his work previously with Manchester City, where he helped to develop young stars like Cole Palmer, James McAtee and Rico Lewis.

Two of Manchester United’s Premier League fixtures in October have been selected for live TV coverage, resulting in respective changes to the scheduling.

The match against Liverpool at Anfield was originally set for Saturday 18 October, but it has now been moved to Sunday 19 October for a 16:30 BST kick-off, live on Sky Sports.

Meanwhile, the kick-off time for United's Old Trafford game against Brighton & Hove Albion has been amended, changing from 15:00 to 17:30 BST for the benefit of Sky Sports. #MUFC

Bruno Fernandes' representatives are aware of Al-Ittihad's interest. They have been directly approached.

However, Manchester United remain calm about the situation and are yet to receive any contact.

No club-to-club is expected unless Fernandes changes his mind about Saudi this summer. He was firm with Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr that he wanted to stay at Manchester United for at least another year.

Al-Ittihad also need a sale before considering bidding for a big name.
