The 1958 group of Manchester United fans has called off its planned protest before Sunday's Premier League opener against Arsenal at Old Trafford.

Many felt it was too early to judge whether Ratcliffe's involvement has been a success or not. The Ineos owner has put money into the club, paying for the major £50m upgrade at United's Carrington training ground, which was unveiled last week.

The group says it has reflected on a survey conducted in the wake of the criticism received and has opted to step back for now.

"However, the fight against the current ownership model and accountability for decisions impacting United supporters will continue," the group added.
