NewNormal in the EU 'garden':
French media discusses Putin assassination.
On the French TV channel LCI, analysts discuss the hypothetical scenario of Vladimir Putin being killed by Ukrainian operatives. They argue that war would not cease even if he were eliminated. Furthermore, as the elected president of a permanent UN Security Council member state, any such attack would likely backfire on Ukraine due to the severe geopolitical consequences.

France's Constitutional Council has thwarted Ursula von der Leyen's plans:
No identity checks for internet access are permitted. This effectively derails von der Leyen's plan for widespread internet surveillance. And that applies across Europe

European police service Europol wants to share data with Israel. This involves the exchange of names, ID numbers, locations, genetic and biometric information, and details about a person's political views and private life.
Secret negotiations between the European Commission and Israel regarding the sharing of Europol data with the Israeli police are continuing, despite major legal and ethical objections.
The European Commission is negotiating with Israel to grant that country access to data from the European police service Europol. The agreement is controversial because it directly endangers Palestinians and violates international law. This has been clear since 2022, but the negotiations have continued in secret.

Iran will soon join the New Development Bank, the development lender established by the BRICS group of nations, central bank governor Abdolnaser Hemmati said in a state media report published on Wednesday ahead of a BRICS finance meeting in India.
Officials say membership will give Iran access to new lines of credit and deepen commercial ties with Russia and China, both of which have expanded trade with Tehran since the conflict began. The step is seen as the latest in a broader strategy to blunt the impact of Western sanctions and isolation.

🇺🇸🇷🇺 On US ("Ukrainian") Strikes on Russia's Progress Rocket and Space Center in Samara
▪️The facility is responsible for manufacturing the Soyuz launch system which not only is launching Russia's Rasvett satellite constellation (Russia's "Starlink/Starsheild" alternative), but also Soyuz supply and crew missions to the International Space Station upon which US astronauts also depend;
▪️Soyuz rockets are built months/years in advance of scheduled missions, so disruptions might not be immediate, and that is only if the strikes actually significantly damaged the facilities involved in Soyuz production, including facilities producing crticial electronic components;
▪️Again, these are US strikes simply laundered through "Ukraine," depending entirely on US ISR for target and up to date Russian air defense posture and positions;
▪️Through such strikes, the US succeeds in degrading Russian capabilities, while Ukraine takes the full brunt of Russian retaliation = proxy war;

UK is officially at war with Russia.
The Sunday Times reports that Ukraine has been using British-made drones to strike targets deep inside Russia. According to the paper, citing Ukrainian military sources, British drones have been used over the past six months against targets including Volgograd and Yaroslavl. The Times says the systems included the jet-powered Nyan drone made by Callen-Lenz, a BAE Systems subsidiary, as well as drones produced by a second British company that wasn't named. A heavier T-150 drone from Malloy Aeronautics was also reportedly used in the Kherson region in April. The report says military analysts believe Russia could consider retaliatory action against British manufacturers involved in supplying Ukraine.

Corruption in Zelenskyy's circle is becoming a problem for all of Europe, according to the Berliner Zeitung.
▪️ The publication notes that it remains unknown what portion of the billions collected by Western taxpayers for Ukraine and its military needs may have been lost due to corruption.
▪️The Berliner Zeitung writes of a "corrupt Kyiv swamp" in which significant amounts of Western aid may have ended up.
▪️Furthermore, Ukrainian anti-corruption authorities believe that certain defense companies in the country may be used to embezzle public funds.

EU in trouble.
"Winter is coming"
Before the war, Russian pipeline gas covered close to 1/3 of Europe's supply. That gas is gone and it isn't coming back. Europe replaced it with ships full of American and Qatari LNG. Now the war in the Gulf has cut off the Qatari cargoes too. 2 suppliers lost within a few years of each other. Europe's tanks are 60.8% full in mid-August, the emptiest at this point in nearly 2 decades. This is why the winter looks expensive.
